Portable AIO. Lenovo's Horizon 2e is a 21.5-inch All-in-One (AIO) system. Thanks to an integrated battery, the "2-in-1 tabletop PC", as Lenovo calls it, is portable enough so it can be toted from room to room as well. What else does the jumbo-sized tablet bring to the table?

Slimmed down. The second generation of the iPad Air got even thinner. The new Apple A8X triple-core processor is a surprise. Not only the additional core makes the iPad the new performance reference, but also the powerful GPU. Many details have been improved, but the battery is smaller. Déjà-vu. LG's G Pad 10.1 looks a lot like its smaller brother, the G Pad 8.0. The equipment is almost identical, and the only obvious difference is the larger screen. Again LG opts for limited performance and a long battery life in this case. However, the review sample tends to dim the brightness when it gets too warm.

Chicken-breasted long-distance runner. LG offers an 8-inch tablet for less than 200 Euros (~$254) that has an excellent battery life dubbed G Pad 8.0. However, the runtimes are at the expense of having a weak SoC, which is usually found in entry-level smartphones, among other things. Nevertheless, Android 4.4 KitKat and known software features from LG help make the tablet an interesting product.

Black box tablet. The new Asus tablet is a bit secretive because the installation of many benchmarks did not work and produced errors. We try to determine if the powerful hardware can meet expectations and how the review sample performs in terms of display, sound, connectivity and case nonetheless.

Mobile gaming fun. Thanks to the LTE Cat 4 module, the top model can be used for gaming on-the-go anywhere. In addition, Nvidia doubled the flash memory, which worked significantly faster in our test model.

HP turn around! HP now follows the example set by Lenovo since 2012 with its Yoga. Owing to cleverly designed hinges, the new Pavilion can be used in four different modes. However, we soon discovered that unfortunately the transition is not always smooth.

Press me! The tablet of Toshiba's Click 2 Pro P30W-B-104 convertible can be completely detached from the keyboard dock. The unusual mechanism needs a bit of getting used to. Read in our report why the stylish ultrabook will nevertheless look good on many desks.

A surfboard on your ear. The 8-inch tablet Asus Fonepad 8 is a joy to use with its fast quad-core SoC. You also get 2 slots for micro-SIM cards, so the tablet can be transformed into a smartphone and connection to the Internet is possible via UMTS.

Tweaked. Asus has increased the size of its efficacious 10-inch T100 to 11.6-inches without modifying technologies or features. Is that enough to attach to the success of its little Transformer?

Tabloid tablet. The Panasonic Toughpad UT-MB5 features a 4k IPS display panel and is large enough to work with DIN A3 / Tabloid-sized drawings. At a price of about 4500 Euros (~$5800), the tablet is way too expensive to appeal to the average consumer.

For big ears. Asus launches a refresh of its phablet line with the Fonepad 7. The mid-range, 7-inch device is well-equipped - it features Intel's Atom Z3560 quad-core SoC with a clock rate of 1.83 GHz and integrated PowerVR G6430 graphics chip, dual-SIM feature, and an IPS screen in HD resolution. A rounded total package.

The business convertible. At a starting price of $1500, the Toshiba Z10t includes high-end hardware in a tablet form and competes directly against the Microsoft Surface models. This updated model includes mostly internal upgrades as we re-analyze the convertible's performance for the 2014 market.

It's a success. A quad-core SoC, Android 4.4.2, a Full HD display, and all that for only 200 Euros (~$256). The 8-inch Acer Iconia Tab 8 tablet offers a lot of good hardware at a low cost. As our review shows, what looks good on paper looks good in practice too.

Android tablet gaming. New performance records, useful gaming features, and an integrated stylus are to take gaming on a tablet one step further. An attractive price of 299 Euros (~$387) fused with minor production flaws; the Shield tablet was quite convincing in our test.
