IFA 2015 | Alcatel announces a 17-inch tablet

Recent rumours suggest that Samsung has been working on a huge, 18-inch tablet. However, in the meantime Alcatel has decided to use IFA 2015 as launch event for its own beastly (at least in size) tablet, the 17.3-inch OneTouch Xess.

The new Alcatel’s tablet features an adjustable built-in kickstand that can also serve as a handle that helps to carry the device around. It does not make the Xess look particularly sleek but indeed might come in handy, considering the tablet’s size.

Alcatel OneTouch Xess is powered by Mediatek’s octa-core MT8783T processor, clocked at 1.5 GHz, accompanied by 2 GB of RAM. The 32 GB of on-board storage space, partly taken up by the Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system, can be expanded bu further 64 GB via micro-SD slot. The battery’s capacity is a whopping 10,000 mAh. Other features include dual 3-watt JBL speakers, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.1 connectivity and a 5 MP camera. The screen’s resolution is 1920 x 1080 pixels.

The Alcatel OneTouch Xess is expected to hit the market later this year. Pricing has not been unveiled yet.
