IFA 2015 | Samsung teases Galaxy View

This upcoming product will be unveiled next month and it might be a very large tablet, but some rumors mention a service or a competitor for Apple TV.

Next to uncovering the new Gear S2 smartwatch, Samsung also teased a new product called Galaxy View yesterday in Berlin. Since Apple is expected to show the large screen iPad Pro later this month, it would not be a surprise to see Samsung becoming the first to unveil a large screen slate.

More than just a large tablet, Samsung Galaxy View might be a convertible aimed at consumers interested in such a device to watch TV shows and movies. While the images only show a tablet with a solid kickstand, a keyboard is not totally out of question. Recent rumors mentioned an upcoming 18.4-inch slate by Samsung, optimized for media viewing, which might soon hit the market. However, Galaxy View might be a service as well.

Unfortunately, there is no official info on this device for now, so take all the above with a grain of salt. Since it looks like Galaxy View will be unveiled next month, stay tuned.

Although I have been writing about new software and hardware for almost a decade, I consider myself to be old school. I always enjoy listening to music on CD or tape instead of digital files and I will not even get into the touchscreen vs physical keys debate. However, I also enjoy new technology, as I now have the chance to take a look at the future every day. I joined the Notebookcheck crew back in 2013 and I have no plans to leave the ship anytime soon.
