The Huawei MatePad Pro Max is a premium 13.2-inch tablet designed primarily for artists and other creative users. Its 3000 x 2000 OLED display, 144Hz refresh rate, thin bezels, and optional PaperMatte finish receive widespread praise. Despite measuring only 4.7mm thick, it includes 12GB of memory, up to 512GB of storage, and a 9760mAh battery while weighing 509g. The Kirin 9030 Pro processor provides capable general performance, although the Maleoon 935 graphics solution is not class-leading. Reviewers also commend the build quality, audio, portability, stylus experience, and keyboard accessories. However, HarmonyOS lacks Google services, laptop replacement remains impractical, and the €1,099 price weakens its value against older Huawei tablets and Apple alternatives.

If the last few paragraphs caught your attention and you want to experience the excellent digital art support that Huawei tablets provide, you do not need to spend this much. You’re much better off saving a few hundred quid and buying last year’s 13.2in MatePad Pro (2025), which is just £699 at the time of writing.

The MatePad Pro Max proves Huawei still knows how to make premium hardware; this is a slim and lightweight large-screen tablet that looks and feels brilliant. The anti-reflective PaperMatte screen means you can use it outside with ease, and it’ll slip subtly into a bag.

The MatePad Pro Max is an excellent tablet, but it isn't going to replace a standard laptop; there are too many limitations here, like the lack of Google. But also, I think you just don't buy tablets for office workers. You do, however, buy them for creative work. And the MatePad Pro Max is right up there with the best around.

The Huawei MatePad Pro Max, at least in terms of hardware, might be the most impressive tablet I have ever used. The screen is gorgeous, the speakers are amazing, it’s impossibly slim, and the accessories are among the best around. It’s also cheaper, but Apple has the software and accessory ecosystem to back up the extra cost.

The “Max” designation in the name of this device is fully earned through its expansive scale, exceptional screen quality, and high performance. Huawei managed to build a premium machine that is thin where it counts and powerful where it matters, leaving very little room for compromise. This combination of a stellar OLED display, robust audio systems, and a mature ecosystem positions it as a serious contender for professional creators.

The Huawei MatePad Pro Max is here and -- EXCEPT FOR THE SILICON -- it is the absolute best tablet hardware I've ever seen or tested. The tablet brings a 13.2-inch flexible OLED display with the thinnest bezels among tablets, and the display has an anti-reflective matte texture on the surface. The entire tablet measures just 4.7mm thick and weighs 509g, or about 1.1lbs. The Huawei Glide Keyboard is also thin, has spacious keys, and stores the stylus in a clever hidden compartment. It's the best looking and best designed tablet on the market by far in my opinion. The only area where this tablet is not class-leading is the silicon.

Qualcomm Maleoon 935: Graphics chip for smartphones and tablets, integrated in the HiSilicon Kirin 9020. Unfortunately, Huawei does not provide any detailed information. What is certain is that it does not support hardware-based ray tracing and only the older Vulkan 1.0 standard.
Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.
