The publication of the JEDEC specifications is paving the way for the accelerated adoption of the DDR5 standard. First to benefit from the new standard are the server and HPC sectors, while the consumer market may first see DDR5-ready systems in 2021. Initial speeds start at 4.8 GHz, but should hit 6.4 GHz in a few years, and capacities should gradually rise to 48-64 GB per DIMM, with a maximum of 1 TB in the foreseeable future.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Band 5 confirmed to have no Amazon Alexa integration, NFC or a SpO2 sensor ahead of tomorrow's launch; TWS earbuds, Mi TV Stick and a new Mi Scooter teased too

The first review of sorts for the Mi Smart Band 5 is up and it confirms a heap of information about Xiaomi's upcoming fitness tracker. As feared, the device will not support Amazon Alexa integration, NFC or a SpO2 sensor. Xiaomi has teased that it will be launching a pair of TWS earbuds, the Mi TV Stick and a new Mi Scooter at tomorrow' Ecosystem Product Launch event on July 15 too.

Intel's Tiger Lake-U Iris Xe iGPU gets beefy specs, but disappoints in latest SiSoft Sandra benchmarks

The latest SiSoft Sandra database entries reveal that the Tiger Lake-U Xe iGPUs appear to be on par with the DG1 discrete GPUs releasing later this year. This means the iGPU is getting the same 96 execution units with 768 shading units, plus high core clocks of 1.3 GHz. Despite all these impressive specs, the benchmark scores are quite the disappointment.
