Ultraslim - the AMD way. Samsung's rather expensive ATIV Book 9 Plus was released some time ago and has been called the "most beautiful Ultrabook" by some. The ATIV Book 9 Lite uses AMD components and is offered at a more palatable price point. What the new notebook has to offer is the subject of our review.

Frugal quad-core. The HP Pavilion 15-050sg is an inexpensive notebook (399 Euros, ~$545) with a quad-core processor and a large hard drive. Thanks to the ULV APU from AMD it should be frugal and offer long battery runtimes. Is the Pavilion 15 a convincing package? Find out in our in-depth review.

Clipped wings. A Windows Convertible for 1700 Euros (~$2328) must have some highlights to offer. However, docking was a sobering experience for us, although the Z10t is basically a well-balanced bundle.

Slim all-rounder. It's a slim 15.6-inch all-rounder including a touchscreen that Hewlett Packard has with its Pavilion TouchSmart 15. A Core i7 and GeForce core provide enough computing power. Owing to the ULV CPU, the laptop should also offer long battery runtimes. Our test report reveals whether the laptop sticks out from the crowd.

4 x Atom. Bay Trail-T is supposed to eradicate the performance disadvantages of its predecessors. It wants to do this with a CPU Turbo and now four cores, but is that enough for the right balance of battery runtimes and reasonable Windows performance? DreamBook? HP has changed the name of its mobile workstations to ZBook, shipping it not only with a different moniker, but also with a completely new chassis and updated components. Our detailed review will show whether this is enough to climb back to the top of our workstation ranking.

Business on the road. Not only consumer devices follow the trend towards thinner notebooks and ultrabooks. Dell's new Latitude E7440 proves that mobility, port variety and office qualities can also be combined in a business notebook nowadays. Vostro's successor. Dell introduces a new line of laptops with the Latitude 3000 series. We have our hands on the 15.6-inch Latitude 3540. A Haswell ULV processor alongside a matte Full HD screen are to attract both private and professional users. Our test report reveals whether Dell's latest product line is compelling.

A bit late. Toshiba's ultrabook with touchscreen had been promised for the second quarter of 2013, but a test product only just reached us. An i5-3337U of the Ivy Bridge generation should ensure enough processing power and is supported by 8 GB of RAM. It's certainly a strong package of performance, but can the machine contend with Intel's newer competition based on Haswell?

Cautious evolution. Microsoft's second iteration of the Surface Pro aims at eradicating its predecessor's biggest flaws while at the same time staying true to its original concept. We have done some extensive testing to find out whether this powerful tablet PC with its high-resolution display does now indeed come closer to the idea of a perfect working device.

Silent companion. Haswell makes it possible: HP offers a fan-less 13.3-inch notebook with the Spectre 13 x2, which transforms into a tablet with a push of a button. However, the bulky detachable is certainly no bargain with a retail price of almost 1,100 Euros (~$1485).

Low performance, high price. A really good office laptop is available for 650 Euros (~$878), just like the ATIV Tab with a keyboard dock. Can this concept of an ultra-mobile work and Internet station succeed at this price?

Old packaging, new content. Lenovo wants to attract users looking for the highest possible performance for as little money as possible with the new IdeaPad Z510 series . The Z510 comes with a Haswell CPU, a GeForce GPU and a matte Full HD display for about 700 Euros (~$944). Our review reveals whether the IdeaPad is only convincing on paper or also in practice.

Dell's premium consumers are no longer equipped with just Haswell processors and potent graphics. Performance? Anyone can do that. Instead, the Texans are upgrading their optics, materials, and all-around workmanship. A successful combination of upscale packaging and lightning-fast innards?

Bargain-buy quad-core. A well-rounded notebook for under 600 Euros (~$815) - that's what the Pavilion 17 offers. A quad-core processor and a dual graphics card supposedly ensure optimal performance. Our review reveals whether this setup really does its job.

A flexible solution. The Flex 14 is essentially a low-cost alternative to the well-known Yoga series. Starting at just $479, it certainly has the looks and design of a notebook at twice the value. Looks aren't everything of course, and we find out in this review just how well the Flex 14 can perform.

Covers all the bases. The LifeBook E-series is to convince well-heeled business users with its great casing as well as numerous security features and interfaces. Our review sample belongs to the lower-priced models from the series and is appealing with a balanced mix of components.

Unrivaled. A cheap business entry level laptop in a 13-inch format and the latest ULV processor, the Intel Core i5-4200U, from HP. This slim model weighs a mere 1.6 kg and wants to be recognized as a serious mobile companion.

Long-lasting all-rounder. An economic Core i7 processor and a dedicated Nvidia GPU topped with a lot of storage and wrapped up in an elegant aluminum casing - this is the recipe for a versatile and high-performance multimedia laptop. But is it enough to justify the ambitious price of almost 1200 Euros (~$1619)?

Padbook. A small track point is the characteristic feature of Gigabyte's latest Windows convertible (Windows 8). The other components are also interesting: A Core i5 processor in combination with a Full HD IPS display and an attachable keyboard. Can the device convince us in practice?

Mobile Gaming Deluxe. The Schenker XMG C703 is yet another version of the MSI GS70 barebones to come on the market. The notebook's appeal stems partly from the fact that you can select from a variety of configuration options when you purchase the device from the retailer. Equipped with an Intel Core i7-4700HQ processor, a GeForce GTX 765M and a thin, light case, the notebook debuts in the mobile arena.

Wasted potential. An affordable multimedia laptop featuring a quad-core APU, 16 GB of RAM and Crossfire graphics - that sounds almost too good to be true. In fact, Lenovo's G505s looks like a virtually unrivaled price-performance bundle on paper, but it also has some serious faults.

Different by design. The Acer Aspire R7-571G does not follow classic notebook design guidelines. Thanks to the Ezel hinge, the notebook supports display positions that no other design is capable of offering. How the solution works on a day-to-day basis and how the internal components stack up are the subjects of our review.

Setting standards. Dell's former Precision M4700 maintained its top position in our workstation ranking for a year. Now its successor is available and faces extremely high expectations. We exhaustively tested whether it really can live up to them.
