Feature diet. After our review of the Acer Aspire E1-572G with dedicated graphics card a few weeks ago, we now take a look at the E1-572 without the "G". The new mid-range. No matter if entry-level or high-end smartphone - Nokia always has the right model in its Lumia series. The newest member of the family is the Lumia 625. Online retailers already sell the mid-range model for the competitive price of 250 Euros (~$334).

Aspire differently. Acer’s latest Aspire V5 model steps back from the solid state drives and supreme battery life of most Ultrabooks in exchange for a heavier focus on graphics—all at an affordable price point. But was it worth the trouble?

Think Slim! Business notebooks are usually conservative and rather bulky working devices. Lenovo’s ThinkPad S531 is one alternative that wants to eliminate this prejudice. It combines typical business features with a slim ultrabook design. We checked if the attractive specifications are convincing.

Average. Lenovo offers with the IdeaPad S500 a new ultrabook with Core i5 processor and GeForce GPU. In addition to the touchpad and keyboard the device can be operated via touchscreen. The AMD alternative? A quad-core CPU, Crossfire graphics and plenty of memory - the HP Pavilion 15 offers a lot for less than 500 Euros (~$663). But how competitive is AMD's new platform and does the inexpensive 15-inch notebook offer any surprises?

High-gloss all-rounder. The Satellite L50 wants to be a powerful all-rounder notebook for home use. With an up-to-date Core i7 and Kepler graphics, Toshiba starts off with a solid foundation. Turn the page. The Samsung Ativ Book 5 is a slim, yet sturdy 14-inch touchscreen Ultrabook based on a previous-generation Ivy Bridge processor. How does the sleek looking system with its dual-core i5 CPU and integrated graphics card stack up against the competition?

All's well that's Haswell. The critically-acclaimed Dell XPS 12 returns with a nearly-identical form factor but an upgraded chipset and battery. With these improvements under its belt coupled with a $1,200 price tag, can it hope to hang with the best?
