HP Discover 2014 | HP Pavilion 2014 Notebooks Hands-On
HP recently refreshed their Pavillion series of notebooks, which are now available in three different sizes: 14", 15" and 17". The new design of the laptops looks and feels nice but may be too flashy for business users. In our time with the laptops, the aluminum lining around the keyboard was a nice feature and added to the overall stability of the chassis, though the maintenance flap on the bottom was definitely missed.
Unfortunately, the keyboard we played with displayed some bending during use and was rather shallow as well. The large touchpad also lacks the TouchControl features found on the Envy series, though our fingers slid well across its area.
HP still includes DVD drives with all models and as a novelty the Pavilion series now also come with Beats Audio branded speakers. AMD and Intel processors also reside behind the scenes and HP is targeting a "Back to School" release with a starting price tag of $429.
