Magnesium shell and Alder Lake-P. Dynabook has equipped the Portégé X30L with Intel’s current Alder Lake processor. The magnesium case is extremely light at around 900 grams, which makes the business notebook an extremely mobile companion. However, the performance of the new processor falls short of expectations.

Look like a dragonfly, sting like a bee. The Dragonfly G3 ditches the old 16:9 form factor for a more work-appropriate 3:2 aspect ratio with plenty of display options to choose from. The CPU upgrade, however, isn't as big as we were hoping.

Poor display and inadequate performance. The Galaxy Book2 is an interesting multimedia laptop that Samsung is bringing to the market. It features a 15.6-inch display and pairs an Intel Alder Lake CPU with the new Intel Arc A350M dedicated graphics card. In daily use, however, it disappoints in terms of both performance and image quality.

Lightweight. The Core i7-11800H CPU and the GeForce RTX 3070 laptop GPU bring all the latest games smoothly onto the matte QHD screen (165 Hz). This is complemented by a mechanical keyboard, good battery life, and a Thunderbolt 4 port.

Finally a matte display. The LG Gram 17 (17Z90Q) is very light at 1,350 grams, and it features an Alder Lake processor, Thunderbolt 4 as well as room for two PCIe 4 SSDs. This is complemented by excellent battery life and a matte 17-inch display in the 16:10 format (2,560x1,600 pixels).

A Plus for performance. Not only does the Dell XPS 13 Plus have a touch bar and a completely new keyboard, but it also offers more performance than the base XPS version thanks to Alder Lake P. The expensive Air has to throttle earlier. After we tested the basic model, we now also got our hands on the faster version of the new MacBook Air with 16 GB of RAM, a large 1-TB SSD, and the faster 10-core GPU version of the M2 and ran it through our tests. However, the graphics update is particularly disappointing, since the passively cooled MacBook Air M2 needs to throttle its performance quickly.

Risking more minimalism. P processors for the XPS Plus, U processors for the normal XPS. Dell's fragmentation shows: You can forget about the normal version with a U-class processor, if you are after fast performance in a 13-inch device. Instead, it is meant for entertainment and simple office tasks with its good runtimes, low emissions, and high-contrast FHD display.

The M2 is not as efficient as the M1. After almost two years, the MacBook Air M1 finally gets a successor that is specifically designed for Apple’s own silicon. Transition to Intel is expensive. Huawei has now furnished the multimedia notebook MateBook 16 with an Intel processor and calls it the MateBook 16s. Buyers also get a Thunderbolt 4 port, a state-of-the-art Wi-Fi 6E module, and a bit more key travel. Other than that, there isn't much of a difference. Does that justify a price increase of 500 Euro (US$510)?

A Win-Win situation. The Win Max 2 is trying to be a lot of things at once for gamers, artists, office workers, and students. To our surprise, it actually works very well on all fronts to be a huge improvement over the original Win Max thanks to both design improvements and Intel's new 12th gen CPU.

Dull or sharp? A Core i9-12900H and GeForce RTX 3080 Ti provide sufficient performance for 4k gaming, video processing, and rendering. The matte 4k display (IPS, 144 Hz) scores with a good color reproduction and high brightness. Our test shows what else the new Blade 17 in the high-end configuration can do.

More performance in a familiar shape. We still have to wait for the brand-new redesign of the MacBook Air, but Apple already launched the updated version of the MacBook Pro 13 with the new Apple M2 processor. The changes are otherwise very limited since both the display as well as the chassis including the Touch Bar are unchanged from the previous model.
