Samsung Galaxy Book3 Ultra 16: RTX 4050 laptop with long runtimes and AMOLED panel
Samsung offers a series of mobile notebooks for gamers and creative workers with the Galaxy Book3 Ultra 16 models. A GeForce RTX Studio certification is supposed to ensure high computing power, adjusted drivers, good software support and suitable color space coverage of the display.
This series is not designed for maximum performance; mobility, long runtimes and low energy consumption are prioritized. Low-power versions of the RTX 4050 or RTX 4070 GPU are used within the series, while the processors come from Intel (Raptor Lake).
Our test unit is the entry-level model and carries a price tag of around US$2400. For this you get a combination of Core i7-13700H, GeForce RTX 4050 and 16 GB of RAM (LPDDR5-5200, dual-channel mode). The latter cannot be expanded. The storage capacity of the lightning-fast PCIe 4 SSD (M.2-2280) is quite thin at 512 GB - more is to be expected from a US$2400 notebook. If necessary, a second PCIe 4 SSD can be installed.
The large OLED screen (16 inches, 2880x1800) in a work-friendly 16:10 format provides an excellent black value and completely covers the DCI-P3 color space. A 76 Wh battery ensures very good runtimes. Another advantage is that the notebook can be supplied with power via both USB-C ports (Thunderbolt 4).
