Lenovo has good news about the third-gen ThinkPad P14s - no, not that it is finally getting a new Ryzen-based variant, but that it is on sale with a pretty substantial discount. The OEM's "lightest mobile workstation" normally goes for US$2,529 for a SKU with the Core i5-1240P processor, a 512GB SSD and a non-touch 300-nit IPS display.
For that normal price, the buyer gets 8GB of RAM - although 1 SO-DIMM slot might still be free to augment that. Nevertheless, it might be just as well that this version of the P14s is now listed at US$1,139 on lenovo.com.
That is a saving of 54% on a laptop that packs business-like qualities such as 4GB of T550 graphics into a light, 14-inch chassis. Then again, things like smart-card readers are still optional extras - in addition, 1 of the P-series' variant's dual Thunderbolt 4 ports is also taken up with power-supply duties. Lenovo notes that this new offer is only valid while stocks last.
