MWC 2023 | Lenovo ThinkPad T14 G4, T16 G2 and T14s G4: More USB4, DDR5 and OLED options for the T series

The ThinkPad T series has been around since the year 2000. The classic business ThinkPads are being updated this year as well, with the updates to the latest processors of the Ryzen 7000 series and Intel Raptor Lake U15/P28  included. But they are not the only new features of the Lenovo ThinkPad T14 Gen 4, Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 4 and ThinkPad T16 Gen 2.

Especially the less expensive "standard" models of the T14 G4 and T16 G2 are being gentrified. Both of these models will be offered with OLED options for the first time, a feature which was exclusive to the ThinkPad T14s G3 (available from Amazon for $1,179) in the prior generation. In the case of the T14 G4 a 2.8K screen and for the T16 G2, a 4K-UHD OLED panel. These are not the only upgrades, as the AMD versions of the T14 Gen 4 and T16 Gen 2 feature USB4 for the first time. This was another features that used to be exclusive to the T14s.

The AMD versions of the T14s G4, T14 G4 and T16 G2 are all updated from LPDDR5 to LPDDR5X, with the maximum still being 32 GB of soldered memory. The Intel versions take a different path: The still have a single SO-DIMM, though it is now configurable if it is DDR4 or DDR5.

After last years models received 1080p webcams for the first time, Lenovo takes another step this year, as the new ThinkPad T series will be sold with 5 megapixel webcams. The last design change only applies to the ThinkPad T14s Gen 4: The chassis is in "Deep black" instead of the lighter "Thunder black" colorway.

ThinkPad T series 2023: pricing and availability

In Europe, the ThinkPad laptops of the T series will be available in July 2023. The ThinkPad T14 G4 will cost €1,345. With a base price of €1,390, the bigger ThinkPad T16 G2 will be slightly more expensive. Last but not least, the ThinkPad T14s G4 is a level above the others in price, it starts at €1,590.
