A Redditor has found that undervolting the GPU in the Dell XPS 15 7590 is necessary to prevent its throttling. The GTX 1650 in the latest XPS 15 is reported to throttle severely as soon as it hits 75 °C under load at the stock voltage of 800 mV. Lowering the maximum voltage to 700 mV was found to not only allow longer sustained performance but also lowered the operating voltage to 68 °C.

You'll be hard-pressed to find another brand new 2-in-1 laptop with the same Whiskey Lake-U processor and multiple Thunderbolt 3 ports as this Lenovo for under $600. The Yoga 730 is certainly something worth considering if you've been on the fence for a worthwhile convertible especially at this price point.

The XPS 15 7590 is less than two weeks old, but consumers are already realising that the device retains some of the issues that plagued its predecessors. 75 °C throttling and no S3 sleep sound familiar to anyone? At least Dell appears to have resolved DPC latency issues with the new XPS 15 though.
