Updated | Surface Laptop 3 13-inch and 15-inch marketing images surface
Here is the Surface Laptop 3 in all its glory, well most of it anyway. Evan Blass has published a slew of marketing photos in the last 24 hours of the 13-inch and anticipated 15-inch versions of the upcoming laptop, but we remain none the wiser on all the ports that either will feature.
The photos show that both models retain the Surface Connect of previous Surface devices, but not whether they also include USB Type-C too as the Surface Pro 7 has been shown to have. Visually, little distinguishes the 13-inch and 15-inch variants, except for the larger spaces between the keyboard and trackpad on the latter model. The two devices appear to have the same sized keyboard keys and trackpad, though.
We now expect the Surface Laptop 3 to launch in at least four colours, with Black, Blue and Silver all returning. Blass has published photos of a Rose Gold version too, but we would not necessarily rule out this being a region exclusive as the Blush version of the Surface Laptop 2 was with the Chinese market. Roland Quandt has since tweeted pictures showing the left-hand side of the 13-inch Surface Laptop 3. The photos, one of which we have included below, confirm that the upcoming device will have a USB Type-C port instead of the Mini DisplayPort that Microsoft included with the first two generations of the Surface Laptop. We expect that this will support DisplayPort out, but it will not necessarily be a Thunderbolt 3 port. Since Thunderbolt 3 is currently a proprietary Intel interface, it will not make an appearance on any AMD powered model if there is one. The photo confirms that the Surface Laptop 3 will retain a USB Type-A port and a 3.5 mm jack too.
