Volkswagen has announced an electric GTI concept based on the front-wheel drive ID. 2all expected to launch in around 2027. The German marque will face stiff competition from the likes of Fiat, Mini, Renault, and perhaps even Tesla. Volkswagen appears to be leaning more heavily on legacy nameplates than previous comments indicated.

Shure has launched the second iteration of its AONIC 50 wireless ANC headphones, featuring improved noise cancellation, in-built spatial with three modes, support for low-latency, lossless codecs and a battery life of 45 hours. The new features put them at par with established favorites from Bose, Sony and Sennheiser. The headphones are priced at US$349.

AGM has come to IFA 2023 to reveal that it has broken out of its normal rugged, feature-rich smartphone mold into tablets for the first time. The Pad P1 still has IP68 and IP69K ratings for potentially advanced water-resistance, as well as a "powerful" enough MediaTek chipset for independent connectivity in its 4G/LTE variant. The new "all-in-one" slate launches today (September 1, 2023) on the European market.

ViewSonic has released the VX2776-2K-OLED in China, a 26.5-inch gaming monitor equipped with a 1440p OLED panel. The ViewSonic also has a 240 Hz refresh rate, 0.3 ms response times and high DCI-P3 colour space coverage, among other features.

Garmin has unveiled the Venu 3 and Venu 3S, a pair of smartwatches that are available in multiple styles. According to Garmin, the Venu 3 series contains several firsts for its smartwatches, including nap tracking and wheelchair mode. The new Venu models also have a revised design, among other changes.

Huawei has now added a vanilla model to its new Mate 60 series of flagship smartphones in China. It boasts the same XMAGE rear cameras, two-way satellite messaging support and new metal-chassis design as its Pro sibling, albeit with a smaller 120Hz LTPO OLED display. It also has the smaller battery of the two, although the plain 60 retains the same wireless charging specs.

The Fairphone 5 has arrived and is already available to order. The list of changes between the Fairphone 4 and Fairphone 5 is extensive, including various performance upgrades and superior camera hardware. Arguably, the biggest improvment is the device's outstanding software support, which stretches into the start of the 2030s.

The flagship home theater ultra-short throw (UST) projector with Leica branding has finally become available in the US. The Cine 1 throws an image of up to 120 inches in size at up to 3,000 nits of brightness in XPR-upscaled 4K. The UGREEN Nexode 300W 5-Port GaN Fast Charger will be on show at IFA 2023 before launching in early September. The gadget has five outputs, one USB-A port and four USB-C ports. You can use one of the USB-C ports to charge devices at 140W with support for the PowerDelivery 3.1 protocol.

New details of the upcoming Fujifilm GFX100 II indicate that it may be quite a capable medium-format video camera, despite the large sensor size and resolution. Rumours indicate that it will get high-quality 8K and 4K video recording with support for video touch-to-focus, previously only available in photo mode.

Sony has announced both the A7C II and the A7C R, with availability later this year. The two cameras are akin to a baby A7 IV and A7R V, making them particularly capable for hybrid and photo shooting, although the lack of dual card slots makes them a tough sell for professionals or serious hobbyists.

TCL has unleashed the X955 as the new flagship of its QD-Mini LED 4K TV series. The device is touted as the first of its kind with 5,000 nits of brightness and over 5,000 full array local dimming (FALD) zones. Oppo has now released the Watch 4 Pro, a premium smartwatch with a 1.91-inch AMOLED display and a stainless steel case. The Oppo Watch 4 Pro also has a Snapdragon W5 Gen 1 chipset, 2 GB of RAM and a 570 mAh battery, among other features.

Oppo has now unveiled the Find N3 Flip, its latest clamshell-style foldable. Launching first in China, Oppo has already confirmed that the device will receive a global release at some stage.

Huawei has foregone hype in favor of stealth in opening pre-orders for the Mate 60 Pro in China. The new flagship smartphone packs surprises besides its sudden appearance, the resurrection of the metal unibody chassis and a novel triple punch-hole for its FHD+ 120Hz OLED display included. It also features triple rear XMAGE cameras with a 50MP OIS-enabled variable-aperture main shooter.
