Orange Pi Kunpeng Pro: New single-board computer with AI acceleration created in collaboration with Huawei
Orange Pi and Huawei have collaborated on the creation of a dev board and single-board computer, the Orange Pi Kungpeng Pro, which can be used in a variety of settings. The Raspberry Pi alternative comes with EulerOS, a special Linux distribution and desktop operating system that allows for the installation of apps such as Firefox. Image output is established via two HDMI 2.0 ports, plus the MIPI DSI and MIPI CSI interfaces for monitors and cameras that are typical for single-board computers.
The SoC has four computing chips and a graphics chip, and also houses an NPU with a performance of 8 TOPS. The RAM measures 8 or 16 GB, and eMMC storage with a capacity of up to 256 GB can be optionally added. A memory card slot is also available. The use of an M.2 SSD is possible: NVMe and SATA SSDs are supported.
Network connections are established Gigabit Ethernet as well as via WiFi 5 on the 2.4 and 5 GHz bands. Bluetooth 4.2 and Bluetooth LE are on board. Two USB 3.0 type A ports are installed, while power is supplied via USB-C. The 107 x 68 mm board also allows for the connection of a fan. Lastly, a GPIO pin header with the typical 40 pins is available, alongside a headphone connection.
The Orange Pi Kungpeng Pro is available in China at a starting price approximating $148. Information on a global release is still pending.
