The Geekom A8 is the newest high-end mini PC joining the company’s growing portfolio. It’s powered by the latest AMD Hawk Point APUs, with the base variant featuring the Ryzen 7 8845HS and the top-end coming with the Ryzen 9 8945HS. Thanks to the upgraded NPU in these processors, the mini computer is packed with AI smarts, including an intelligent optimization feature that ensures smooth performance.
Moreover, the new Hawk Point APUs have the renowned AMD Radeon 780M iGPU, making the A8 mini PC capable of running modern games. Geekom says that the company tested the system with many popular titles, and it could deliver playable FPS in all of them.
For an even better gaming experience, Geekom A8 brings external GPU support via its 40 Gbps USB4 port. Of course, an OCuLink port would’ve been better, but it’s good to see that the eGPU support is available. On the note of ports, the mini PC has a generous number of them. That includes three USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 3.2 Gen 2, one USB 3.2 Type-C, and two HDMI 2.0.
Through the USB4, USB 3.2 Type-C, and two HDMI ports, the mini PC can handle quad display output at up to 8K resolution. As for the design, the Geekom A8 has a compact housing, measuring 112.4 x 112.4 x 37 mm with a capacity of 0.47 liters. It also has a robust cooling setup called IceBlast 1.5. The company says that it can ensure a stable performance at low noise.
When it comes to the price, the Geekom A8 with Ryzen 7, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB SSD is currently $749 on the official store. The Ryzen 9 variant of the mini PC with the same amount of RAM and 2 TB of SSD is $899. A good alternative would be the Minisforum UM780 XTX (available on Amazon), which brings an OCuLink port for even better eGPU performance.
