A dominant fan. With the Pavilion 14-ce3040ng, HP is selling a 1,000-Euro (~$1,109) multimedia laptop based on Intel's brand-new Ice Lake architecture. As it turned out in our test, the 14-incher has several unnecessary quirks.

Good package with some limitations. While budget gaming notebooks often have difficulties displaying current games at maximum details, the price-to-performance ratio is good in most cases. MSI's GF63 Thin 9SC is a fairly affordable representative of this species.

Is the old MBP 15 a good deal on sale? Apple has replaced the MacBook Pro 15 with the larger MBP 16, but many shops still offer the old models, and usually with a big discount. We review the MacBook Pro 15 2019 with the smaller Core i9 processor and the AMD Vega 16 GPU.

Great looks, shaky GPU performance. It's one of the heftier and better-looking convertibles for sure, but performance becomes a bit unsteady when under higher loads. Power users may want to consider the faster Core H and GTX SKUs instead.

Half-baked. Dell's 14-inch laptop shines with decent or even good battery life, an NVMe SSD and a powerful Ice Lake Core i7 processor. The dedicated GeForce MX230 graphics chip is only able to access its performance potential for a short amount of time due to thermal constraints. Thus, it is not really suitable for gaming.

Low-cost office. Lenovo's 15.6-incher scores with its fast SSD, quiet fan and low temperatures. Its display and battery life are weak points, in our opinion. The laptop will not burn much of a hole in your pocket at around 300 Euros (~$334), though.

Its weight in dollars. Another Swift flyweight has come up for testing and will have to prove that it requires a lot fewer compromises than its predecessor did. Will the new Intel Core i5-1035G1 finally offer the appropriate performance instead of extreme throttling? Find out in our review.

Performance-degrading transformation. The dedicated graphics chip is gone without replacement, 4K UHD is no longer an option and there is no Thunderbolt 3 anymore, either: At first glance, the Lenovo Yoga C740-15IML appears to be a clear downgrade compared to its predecessor. While this holds true for some aspects of the convertible, other areas have seen some improvements. Unfortunately, our test model suffers from a very dimly lit display.
