We compare dozens of laptops with the same GeForce MX150 GPU and the Razer Blade Stealth comes out on top

The launch of the GeForce MX150 was a turning point for Ultrabooks as it allowed them to run titles that were previously untenable. At best, the new GPU would offer a performance level in between that of the GeForce GTX 950M and GTX 960M for less than half the TDP to represent a huge leap in performance-per-Watt.

Unfortunately, not all GeForce MX150 GPUs are created equal. Nvidia quietly launched two versions of the GPU: a weaker 10 W '1D12' version and a faster 25 W '1D10' version. Furthermore, almost no manufacturer would advertise which version of the GPU a particular laptop model would include. Some laptops would therefore perform 25 to 40 percent faster than others in games even if they shipped with the same CPU and GeForce MX150 GPU.

To better illustrate the graphics performance differences between various GeForce MX150 laptops, we've compiled all 44+ laptops with the GeForce MX150 in our database to compare their 3DMark scores as shown below. Interestingly, the two-year old Razer Blade Stealth consistently comes out on top by about 15 percent over the average MX150. In fact, the Razer system is essentially on par with the newer and pricier GeForce MX250. If you're in the market for a GeForce MX150 laptop and want to make the most of the GPU, then consider the Blade Stealth or avoid the ones that perform below the average.
