The Asus TUF Gaming laptop that sports both an AMD Ryzen 7 4800H APU and Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060 GPU seems to be quite the monster in benchmarks. The upcoming device was recently spotted on Cinebench R15 by HXL where it recorded a very healthy multi-core score of 1,743 points. The new Ryzen 4000 processor is an 8-core, 16-thread part that has a base clock of 2.90 GHz and default TDP of 45 W.
To put that in perspective performance-wise, there is the powerful 8-core, 16-thread Ryzen 7 2700X desktop processor that has a much higher base clock of 3.70 GHz and 105 W TDP. This impressive Zen+ processor scored 1,801 points in our Cinebench R15 test, where it was paired with an XFX AMD Radeon RX Vega 64. Considering the base clock and TDP difference, the showing by the Ryzen 7 4800H APU seems even more impressive.
As for the competition, well the AMD Ryzen 7 4800H falls where we would expect it to in this particular Cinebench R15 test. The rival Intel Core i9-9880H has a median of 1,497.5 points (max: 1,721) in our tests where the Intel Core i9-9980HK has a median of 1,641 points and a max of 1,930 points. The price/performance ratio would be key for shoppers here: Asus is currently advertising the TUF Gaming FA506IV laptop with Ryzen 7 4800H and GeForce RTX 2060 for preorder at its UK store for £1,299.99 (~US$1,619).
