Playing the big guy. The entry-level gaming laptop is well-equipped with its Intel Core i5-12500H and RTX 4050 and can run current games at Full HD really well. So far, so unsurprising. But: In quiet mode, the performance hardly drops and the noise levels remain remarkably low.

The Intel 13th gen upgrade. The ThinkPad X1 Yoga G8 has arrived with new and faster Intel Raptor Lake options. Unfortunately, it doesn't do much else to address the issues on last year's ThinkPad X1 Yoga G7.

Business style in the midrange. The Lenovo ThinkPad X13 Yoga G2 was one of our top-rated ThinkPad laptops last year. The ThinkPad X13 Yoga Gen 3 successor, with its Alder Lake CPU, still does many things right, but some things have also become worse in the business convertible.

Workstation Retest. A mobile workstation has to offer high performance in all aspects. We were correspondingly disappointed in the first test of the ThinkPad P16, whose RTX A2000 ran with a handbrake. The retest shows that this was probably a special feature of our first test device.

4x M.2 SSDs + 4x SODIMM. The ZBook Fury 16 G9 is the first 16-inch mobile workstation in the Fury series. Though it comes equipped with plenty of features and even per-key RGB lighting, overall performance misses the mark by just a hair.

Triple A. The VivoBook doesn't exactly come with the newest hardware (Alder Lake, Ampere), but it does score points for other reasons: The Asus laptop has a bright 16-inch screen (2,560 x 1,600 pixels) in 16:10 format which has a high refresh rate (120 Hz) and great color space coverage (DCI-P3).

Based on an Intel Core i7-12650H, the NAB6 is well-prepared for many different uses. Its price is okay, but a few compromises will likely have to be made. NUC but quiet! The Geekom Mini IT12 is an interesting alternative to the well-known Intel NUC models. The Taiwanese manufacturer has chosen a mobile Intel Alder Lake SoC. Expensive office laptop. Microsoft have updated the Surface Laptop 5 with Alder Lake processors and Thunderbolt 4 - but the rest of the device has remained the same. Neither performance nor features can make up for the laptop's premium price.

Clevo in Gigabyte's clothing. Gigabyte's foray into the Indian market kicks off with the midrange G5 series. The G5 KE is based on a Clevo design and shares similar specs as the larger G7 KE including an Intel Core i5-12500H CPU, an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060 Laptop GPU, and a 144 Hz display. While the Gigabyte G5 KE gets most of the gaming basics right, buyers will have to contend with compromises in other areas.

Power saver. The compact Cyborg 15 is not designed for the highest performance, but mobility, a long battery life, and low power consumption play a big role. Nonetheless, the Core i7-12650H and GeForce RTX 4060 still allow you to play all the current games smoothly on the Cyborg 15.

Large allrounder. A large display with a high, 4K resolution in a simple case together with computing power from Intel's 12th generation, 32 GB of DDR4 RAM, and a dedicated GeForce GPU – the HP Envy 17-cr0079ng package sounds interesting. Business class. The Acer TravelMate scores with a strong Alder Lake CPU, moderate emissions, and good battery runtimes. A large 16-inch screen in a work-friendly 16:10 format (1,920 x 1,200 pixels) and a three-year warranty round off the overall package.

AMD has the most powerful mobile CPU. AMD's new Zen4 CPUs have finally arrived and the new flagship Ryzen 9 7945HX competes with Intel's Raptor Lake HX models. The performance of the new Zen4 cores (Dragon Range) is very good and the Ryzen 9 is also more efficient than Intel's HX CPUs.

Mixed breed. The 15-inch Katana has only been slightly revamped and comes with a new graphics card from the RTX 40xx series. Unlike many competitors, MSI combines the new GPU with a Gen12 instead of a Gen13 CPU from Intel. The retail price of US$1,499.99 as a "budget" price tag is rather steep. Is the Katana still worth it?
