UP Squared i12: New compact and powerful SBC debuts with x86 processors
AAEON has unveiled a new single-board computer (SBC) powered by 12th Gen Intel Core processors. As a recap, the company introduced the UP Xtreme i12 in December 2022, which it continues to sell from US$399 before taxes. Now, the UP Xtreme i12 is joined by the UP Squared i12, a more compact alternative that measures just 90 x 85.6 mm and weighs 270 g.
Nonetheless, AAEON equips the UP Squared i12 with the same processors as the UP Xtreme i12. Hence, the former is available with the Celeron 7305E, Core i3-1220PE, Core i5-1250PE and Core i7-1270PE. For reference, all the Core processors have 28 W TDPs; Intel limits the Celeron 7305E to 15 W, though. Additionally, the UP Squared i12 comes with LPDDR5 RAM, an M.2 2280 Key-M socket, a SATA III slot and an M.2 2230 slot for adding a wireless card.
Moreover, the SBC has a 40-pin GPIO header, a 10-pin header with UART and twin USB 2.0 compatibility, plus an onboard TPM 2.0 chip and two Gigabit Ethernet ports. According to AAEON, the UP Squared i12 supports Yocto 4.0, Ubuntu 22.04 and Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021. Unfortunately, AAEON has not revealed pricing, but full details about the SBC can be found on its product listing.
