AAEON UP 7000: New x86 single-board computer debuts with Intel Processor N50, Processor N97 and Processor N100 options
AAEON has introduced a new single-board computer under its UP brand. To recap, the company announced the UP Squared i12 last month, with the UP Squared Pro 7000 arriving a few months prior. Additionally, AAEON sells the UP Xtreme i12, an Intel Alder Lake-P-derived single-board computer (SBC) that debuted in December 2022.
By contrast, the UP 7000 utilises Alder Lake-N processors, with the Processor N50, Processor N97 and Processor N100 all listed on AAEON's website. In summary, the Processor N97 is the most powerful option of the three, with a 12 W TDP shared across four CPU cores that can boost to 3.6 GHz and a UHD Graphics Xe iGPU with 24 Execution Units (EUs). Please note that no Alder Lake-N processors support Intel Hyper-Threading.
AAEON complements these low-powered processors with several memory configurations, up to an including 8 GB of LPDDR5 RAM and 64 GB of eMMC flash storage. Meanwhile, AAEON assigns 256 Mbit of flash storage for the SBC's BIOS and packs the following ports within its 85 x 56 mm frame:
- 1x 40-pin GPIO header
- 1x DC input
- 1x Front panel wafer header
- 1x Gigabit Ethernet
- 1x HDMI 1.4b
- 1x USB 2.0 x2/UART wafer x1 header
- 3x USB 3.2 Type-A
The UP 7000 starts at US$189 with a Processor N50, 4 GB of RAM and 32 GB of eMMC flash storage, excluding taxes. In comparison, the same memory configuration is available with the more capable Processor N100 for a US$10 surcharge. Furthermore, AAEON offers the SBC with a Processor N97, 8 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage for US$239. According to AAEON, all UP 7000 SKUs support Ubuntu 22.04 LTS with Linux 5.15, Windows 10 IoT Enterprise LTSC 2021 and Yocto 4.0.
