Honor has introduced the MagicBook X 16 2023, not to be confused with the MagicBook X 16 Pro that the company announced a few months ago. While the latter utilises new Raptor Lake-H series processors, the MagicBook X 16 2023 relies on the older Alder Lake-H architecture instead. Specifically, Honor has swapped the Core i5-1235U in last year's MagicBook X 16 for a Core i5-12450H, a 4 P core and 4 E core processor that has a 45 W TDP.
While we have not tested the Core i5-12450H yet, its higher TDP and additional performance cores should make it more powerful than the Core i5-1235U. For reference, Honor has created a key combination to drop the processor's TDP to 35 W. Theoretically, this should improve battery life at the expense of performance, although the laptop's 60 Wh battery is unlikely to last for Honor's 9-hour quoted battery life considering the usage of an Alder Lake-H series processor.
Honor pairs the Core i5-12450H with 8 GB of LPDDR4x RAM too, as well as two M.2 2280 slots. According to Honor, the MagicBook X 16 2023 is 17.9 mm thick and weighs 1.75 kg. As its name suggests, it has a 16-inch display, an IPS panel that outputs at 1,920 x 1,200 pixels with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 300 nits peak brightness. Currently, Honor has only launched the MagicBook X 16 2023 in the UK, where it is available with 512 GB of storage for £699.99. The company has not confirmed pricing or availability for other markets yet, though.
