Current alternatives like the HP OmniBook X Flip 2-in-1 16 can be thinner and lighter with a better display while costing hundreds of dollars less.

The latest model isn't necessarily the greatest. Last year's Inspiron 14 7445 2-in-1 carries a few advantages over its immediate successor the Dell 14 Plus 2-in-1.

Dell has equipped the 14 Plus convertible, which succeeds the Inspiron series, with an Intel Core Ultra 7 256V, 16 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, and a 16:10 IPS touch display. A Wi-Fi 7 wireless card and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity complete the package.

The AMD Zen 5 configurations offer superior processor performance while the Intel Lunar Lake options excel in battery life and graphics performance.

The Lenovo Yoga 7 14 Gen 10 2-in-1 convertible laptop with the latest Ryzen AI 300 APUs is now on sale at a huge 40% discount. The laptop is powered by the newest Zen 5 Ryzen AI 300 APUs, 16 GB of RAM, and an expandable Gen 4 SSD.

Some models are becoming increasingly difficult to visually tell apart even for us testers. To laymen, the names "EliteBook X", "EliteBook Ultra", "Envy x360", or "OmniBook x360" may be more confusing than helpful when distinguishing between lower-end and higher-end configurations.

The new HP convertible is very competitive at the lower $1000 price range with its 120 Hz OLED touchscreen and sleek metal design. Competitors like Dell have some catching up to do.

The new MateBook Fold and Pro laptops are now thought to be joined by a 2-in-1 alternative soon. The OneXPlayer X1 Air has been officially teased, and it's a new gaming handheld that's powered by the Intel Core Ultra 7 258V. While the teaser didn't share anything about the price range, it revealed some of the device's core specs.

Lenovo's Yoga 7i 14 2-in-1 ships with a vibrant 2K OLED screen, a choice between two Lunar Lake processors with 16 GB of on-package RAM, and up to a 1 TB SSD. Connectivity is also decent, with a couple of Thunderbolt 4 ports as well as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 being included.

Microsoft's new 12-inch Surface Pro is a pretty unique convertible right now, because the Snapdragon X Plus SoC is cooled passively and still offers sufficient performance for everyday use. The battery runtime is also good, but the small convertible with accessories is rather expensive.

The Piccolo Series71 is compact, comes with a trackpoint and is now orderable. This laptop features an Intel processor, touchscreen, is offered in two different memory configurations and is particularly well-suited for mobile use.

The 2025 Yoga Book 9 14 addresses one of the main complaints about the series by swapping out the slow Intel U-series processors for much faster H-series options. In practice, however, performance could still be a little better.

The native resolution may be the same between them, but jumping from 13.3-inches to 14-inches whilst doubling the refresh rate helps make the Yoga Book 9 even more of a looker.

The HP OmniBook Ultra Flip 14 arrives with a high-refresh-rate 2.8K OLED panel, an Intel Lunar Lake processor, 16 GB of RAM, and a 1 TB M.2 SSD. Port selection is a bit limited, although buyers do get a pair of Thunderbolt 4 ports, in addition to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 support.

Besides the Core 7 Ultra 256V processor with Arc 140V iGPU, highlights for this model include a 14-inch 1920 x 1200 OLED touchscreen, 1 TB PCIe 4.0 SSD, Thunderbolt 4 port, microSD card reader and Wi-Fi 7 + BT 5.4 wireless connectivity. RAM is limited to 16 GB on-package, yet it features blazing fast LPDDR5X-8533 speeds.

The Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 laptop, which officially went on sale in late March, is already on sale at Best Buy. Retailing at a 19% discount, the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 features a Core Ultra 9 288V Lunar Lake APU, 32 GB of RAM, and 1 TB of storage. There is also a 16-inch Mini LED panel up front.

Our review unit of the Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 14AKP10 costs just €1,000, not that much for a convertible laptop with a pen and a Ryzen AI 7 CPU. There is a variant of it that costs even less, but buyers should stay clear of this cheaper configuration.

A reliable leaker has confirmed that Microsoft will soon be selling a 12-inch version of the Surface Pro. Launching early next week, the Surface Pro 12" trades various features found on the larger Surface Pro 11 for a smaller footprint and a presumed lower price point.

Microsoft has a Surface-related announcement scheduled for May 6. The Redmond-based tech giant is expected to announce new compact Surface laptops.

The Chuwi MiniBook X is a new compact laptop featuring a touchscreen, a current-gen Intel processor and a decent amount of RAM. The display can be folded behind the keyboard, allowing the device function as a tablet.

The new Intel version of the Surface Pro convertible is not really interesting for private users due to the high price, but this problem is artificially created by Microsoft. This will damage the reputation of its own products and the company will eventually lose customers.

After speculation that the Framework Laptop 12 may not be available in the US, pre-orders for the 12-inch laptop will open in the US starting on April 10 for $549. Like other regions, shipping won't begin until June.

Lenovo offers a wide product lineup and it is not easy always easy to find the right device. It is even more complicated when you have two very similar products like the two 14-convertibles we just tested, where the less expensive Yoga 7 is actually better than the Yoga 9 in some respects.

For many years, the Lenovo ThinkPad X series was the convertible ThinkPad line - no matter if it was during the 2000s with the X Tablets or the 2010s with the ThinkPad Yoga. This is now the past. At MWC, we looked at the predecessor of the X convertible, the new ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1.

Up until now, the Lenovo ThinkPad T series only existed as a normal laptop version, but this changes for the 25th anniversary of the line. With the new ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1, there is a T convertible for the first time. Also, the Lenovo ThinkPad T14s Gen 6 with Intel is launching with Arrow Lake and Lunar Lake.

Lenovo has updated the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 with a Gen 5 model. Starting at €1,099, the ThinkBook 14 2-in-1 builds on last year's model with more powerful processor options while retaining features like twin M.2 SSD slots.
