Lenovo releases new 1,100 nit OLED convertible laptop with Intel Panther Lake

Lenovo has brought Intel's Panther Lake architecture to its 15-inch IdeaPad series as a replacement for last year's larger Arrow Lake-U-based models (curr. $799 on Amazon). Specifically, the company has released the IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 (15IPH11) across North America and Australia. By contrast, Lenovo's websites currently show the laptop as being unavailable in the Eurozone and the UK.
Currently, the laptop can only be configured with the Core Ultra 7 355, an 8-core processor with a 25 W TDP and a 4-core iGPU. Also, Lenovo offers 16 GB or 32 GB of RAM plus 512 GB or 1 TB of storage. Moreover, one can opt for a 1200p IPS panel or a 2.5K OLED equivalent that delivers up to 1,100 nits in HDR mode with a 165 Hz refresh rate.
In short, the 15IPH11 shares most of its hardware with the 15AGP11 that Lenovo has recently released too. However, a few notable differences separate the two 15.3-inch laptops. For one, Intel Panther Lake models feature a relatively outdated HDMI 1.4b port rather than the newer HDMI 2.1 equivalent inside the 15AGP11. As a result, the 15IPH11 can only output to an external monitor at up to 4K/30 Hz via its HDMI port.
Reportedly, the 15IPH11 lasts up to 25% longer when streaming a local video on its optional 165 Hz, 1,100-nit and 2.5K OLED display. Conversely, the 15IPH11 is said to suffer a 10% deficit to the 15AGP11 when both contain Lenovo's default 1200p IPS display. The IdeaPad 5i 2-in-1 (15IPH11) starts at $849 in the US, $1,149 in Canada and AUD 2,099 in Australia.
