Verdict — Large And Affordable 16-inch Convertible For Basic Multimedia
The most appealing aspect of the IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 16IAL10 is its combination of a reasonable price tag with Intel's newest generation Arrow Lake-U Core Ultra 7 processor. The CPU itself is a decent upgrade over last year's Core Ultra 7 155U in terms of raw performance while still offering great battery life from the average capacity 57 Wh battery. It's a no-nonsense 16-inch machine that excels in basic multimedia tasks which is what the IdeaPad 5 series is all about.
Cutbacks aren't difficult to spot. As a budget model, the system omits several features commonly available on pricier 16-inch convertibles including Thunderbolt support and display options for sRGB or P3 colors. It's also slightly thicker and heavier than most others in its class to be quite cumbersome for a convertible form factor. The HP OmniBook X Flip 16 or Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1, for example, are each slightly lighter or come with much better displays for under $1000 at the time of writing. Graphics performance with the Arc 4 is also very weak even when compared to other integrated solutions like the Arc 140V or Radeon 780M/890M series.

Cons
Price and Availability
The configuration as reviewed is currently available at B&H for $1100. It is not available from other sellers at the time of writing
The Lenovo IdeaPad 5 2-in-1 16IAL10 is a budget 16-inch convertible to contrast the pricier midrange Yoga 7 2-in-1 16ILL10. It also happens to be one of Lenovo's first laptops with Intel Arrow Lake-U processor options.
Our test unit comes configured with the Core Ultra 7 255U while lower-end configurations ship with the Core Ultra 5 225U. All SKUs otherwise ship with the same 1200p touchscreen as of publishing.
Competitors include other 16-inch convertibles like the Dell 16 Plus 2-in-1 or HP Envy x360 2-in-1 16.
