Verdict — Cheap Display With An Older Processor
The latest Envy x360 15 retails for $1000 with the cheaper 1080p panel or $1250 for the 1080p full sRGB option as of this writing. Unless if you really value the convertible design, competing 15-inch clamshells like the Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 or Dell Inspiron 15 Plus can offer significantly faster graphics performance and higher quality displays for hundreds of dollars less. Even the older Asus ZenBook Flip 15 Q508U is a faster and cheaper alternative while weighing almost exactly the same as our HP. Part of this can be attributed to the Core Ultra 7 U-series processor which is unfortunately based off of the older Meteor Lake platform instead of Lunar Lake. The features and performance-per-dollar are subsequently lacking unless if you can find the configurations for deep discounts.
This isn't to say that the new Envy x360 15 is a bad convertible as its metal design, comfortable keys, and decent port options are respectable for a midrange system. To keep up with the competition, however, the full sRGB display should be standard while the CPU should be swapped out for a more efficient Core Ultra 7 V-series considering the >$1000 starting price.
Pros
Cons
Price and Availability
The HP Envy x360 15 fe1071cl is now shipping directly from HP.com starting at $1250 USD for the 100% sRGB configuration.
The Envy x360 15 is HP's midrange multimedia convertible sitting in between the lower-end Pavilion x360 series and higher-end Spectre x360 series. The latest model for early 2025 swaps out the Raptor Lake-U processor on the outgoing model for newer Meteor Lake-U options while keeping most everything else the same.
Our test unit is a middle configuration with the Core Ultra 7 155U, 16 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and 15.6-inch 1080p IPS touchscreen for approximately $1250 USD. Other configurations may include the slower Core 7 150U CPU or different 1080p panels.
Alternatives to the Envy x360 15 include other midrange convertibles like the Asus Vivobook Flip or Lenovo Flex series.

Specifications
Case — Same Look Three Years Running
The chassis has not changed from the 2023 model including even the integrated ports. We didn't have much to complain about on the older model in terms of build quality and this remains true for our 2025 model. However, it's worth noting that the HP convertible is slightly heavier than many 15-inch clamshells.

Webcam
The 5 MP webcam comes standard alongside IR and a physical privacy shutter.

Maintenance
Servicing is more difficult than it needs to be because the bottom panel is secured extremely tightly around the perimeter with clips. Be careful to not damage or bend the case by accident.
Owners have access to one M.2 2280 SSD slot and the removable WLAN module while RAM is soldered.
Sustainability
Ocean-bound plastic, post-consumer recycled plastic, and recycled metal were used to manufacture the model. The packaging is mostly paper and cardboard with protective plastic wrapping.
Accessories And Warranty
There are no extras in the box other than the AC adapter and paperwork. The usual one-year limited manufacturer warranty applies if purchased in the US.
Input Devices
Keyboard And Touchpad
The typing experience remains identical to the 2023 model as there are no changes to key feedback, clickpad size, or even secondary functions. Perhaps the easiest way to distinguish between the newer 2025 model from older ones is the new Co-Pilot key which replaces one of the punctuation keys or Ctrl keys near the bottom right.
Display — Cheap IPS With Limited Colors
Multiple display options are available for the 15.6-inch Envy x360 all of which are FHD at the time of writing. Our test configuration comes with the lowest-end 1080p option offering only ~60% sRGB colors and a 60 Hz refresh rate to be a budget panel. You'll want to consider higher-end panels with deeper colors for more serious graphics editing. Even so, the contrast ratio on our panel is quite good at almost 2000:1 compared to half that on most other inexpensive IPS laptops.

Testing Conditions
We set both Windows and MyHP to Performance mode prior to running the benchmarks below.
Processor
The Core Ultra 7 155U is roughly 25 to 30 percent faster than the Core i7-1355U on the outgoing Envy x360 15 when it comes to multi-threaded workloads. Meanwhile, the CPU is actually about 10 percent slower when it comes to single-threaded workloads. Ultimately, the differences are not significant enough to notice anything major between the the older and newer models. Worse yet, the Core Ultra 7 155U is based on Intel's older Meteor Lake platform and so it lacks the efficiency and graphical advancements introduced with Lunar Lake.

When running Prime95 to stress the processor, clock rates would spike to 2.7 GHz, 46 W, and 96 C before quickly falling to 2.3 GHz and 31 W in order to maintain a steady core temperature of 94 C. It's clear that the cooling solution is at its limit even when running at slower Turbo Boost speeds.

System Noise
Fan noise would remain very quiet even when running the first benchmark scene of 3DMark 06. However, the fan noise ceiling can be quite high at almost 46 dB(A) when running more demanding loads like games for longer periods. If on Balanced mode instead of Performance mode, fan noise when gaming would be quieter at 39 dB(A) instead.

Power Consumption
Consumption would cycle between 43 W and 65 W when running Prime95 and FurMark simultaneously which mirrors our Stress Test observations above. Consumption would also be higher than the faster AMD Radeon-powered Lenovo IdeaPad Slim 5 when gaming for poorer performance-per-watt with our HP model.
