Huawei recently unveiled the design of the MatePad Edge and confirmed that the competitor to the Apple iPad Pro will be officially launched on November 25. The MatePad Edge can reportedly replace a laptop thanks to its detachable keyboard and trackpad.
According to the latest rumors from Chinese social network Weibo, the MatePad Edge could be Huawei's most powerful product to date. The tablet, which is 6.82 millimeters thick and weighs 780 grams, reportedly has a 14.2-inch display with a resolution of 3,120 x 2,080 and a refresh rate of 120 Hz. Huawei is said be installing a HiSilicon Kirin ARM chip, which is three times faster than the Kirin T92 in the MatePad Pro 13.2.

If Huawei can indeed reach this level of performance, the MatePad Edge would be almost as fast as the iPad Pro with the Apple M5, as our benchmark results show. To make this possible, the chip, together with liquid cooling, is said to have a TDP of 28 watts, although Huawei will reportedly also offer a model without liquid cooling with a TDP of 20 watts. The 12,800 mAh battery is reportedly charged via USB-C at up to 140 watts. For multimedia applications, Huawei has included six speakers.
Interestingly, while the MatePad Edge is expected to ship with HarmonyOS, the tablet reportedly supports more than 13,000 Windows apps and is even said to offer support for DirectX 11. Hence, Windows games could be emulated (in theory). The officially supported Windows apps are also said to include Adobe Creative Cloud.
