We praised Lenovo for good laptop display multiple times this year, including consumer and gaming laptops, but also recently in the case of the ThinkPad E14 G7. The latter is optionally equipped with a high-resolution 2.8K IPS screen with 120 Hz. We were therefore quite surprised that the new business convertible ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 is limited to Full-HD screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz, and the T14s is significantly more expensive than the E14.
Our review unit was already equipped with the optional 500-nit panel, which is also a low power version. This is noticeable in the consumption measurements and also helps the battery runtime in combination with the comparatively small 58 Wh battery, but we think it is a mistake that you cannot get a better screen. The low refresh rate of 60 Hz is really an issue, especially if you are already used to screens with higher refresh rates. The brightness of more than 500 nits is not a huge help outdoors, because the display surface is very glossy.
There is also an optional ePrivacy display with an integrated privacy filter, but we would not recommend it - just as we would not recommend HP's Sure View counterpart. The image quality is already affected even when the privacy mode is turned off. Both technologies did not really advance over the last couple of years, either. If you really need a privacy screen, we would recommend an external solution.
The new ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 is a good business convertible thanks to a good set of features and the 500-nit screen is definitely no deal-braker, but we simply expect more for the money in 2025, at least as an option. Please see our comprehensive review of the new ThinkPad T14s 2-in-1 for more information.
