The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 laptop is on sale on Woot at a pretty good price. The laptop is now retailing for less than $1,000, which makes it an excellent value creator and multimedia notebook. The IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 packs an 8-core Ryzen AI 7 350, a 120 Hz OLED display, and an RTX 5050 mobile GPU.

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro laptops offer a nice balance of performance and price. As such, they can be good options for people who want a multimedia laptop that can double as a creator notebook without breaking the bank. Because we are talking about Windows laptops here, you can find the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro notebooks on sale, which brings their already good price further down.

Case in point, Amazon subsidiary Woot is now selling the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 laptop for just $949.99. This is a 41% discount on the full list price. While we don’t think that the full list price of $1,599.99 is anything more than a gimmick, the $949.99 discounted price is arguably pretty solid (linked at the end).

The Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 16 on sale is powered by an 8-core Ryzen AI 7 350 Zen 5 CPU, 16 GB of non-expandable LPDDR5x memory, 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage, and an RTX 5050 laptop GPU. Around the front, there is a stunning 16-inch 2,880 x 1,800 OLED display with a smooth 120 Hz refresh rate and an advertised max brightness of 1,100 nits.

In addition to a full-sized backlit keyboard and a large trackpad, the Aluminum chassis of the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 carries:

  • Two USB 4 ports
  • Two Type-A ports
  • One HDMI 2.1 out
  • A 3.5 mm headphone jack
  • A full-size SD card slot

Finally, a large 84 Wh battery powers the whole system. Lenovo claims that charging the battery for just 15 minutes can provide 3 hours of runtime.

Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 16 has an outstanding display and good performance

While we haven’t reviewed the 16-inch IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10, we did review the smaller 14-inch version with the same Ryzen AI APU, the same general display specs, and the same-sized battery. So, you should definitely check out our review of the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 to get a good idea of what to expect from the larger 16-inch model.

We expect the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 to provide plenty of performance for day-to-day and content creation tasks. Our measurements show that the 8-core Ryzen AI 7 350 is at the same level as the Ryzen AI 9 365, with good single and multi-core performance. So, the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 will be snappy in almost all scenarios. Add the RTX 5050 laptop GPU to the mix, and you can use the machine for both content creation and gaming.

Our testing of the 2.8K OLED panel of the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 confirmed to us that the panels on the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 and, by extension, on the IdeaPad Pro 5 16 are as advertised. So, you can expect 1,100 nits of HDR brightness, 480 nits of SDR brightness, full DCI-P3 coverage, accurate colors out of the box, and rich contrast. The panel should be almost perfect for both media consumption and media production.

Finally, the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 with its 84 Wh battery lasted close to 14 hours in our WLAN test. The IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 should therefore exhibit similarly good runtimes.

Our only real complaints regarding the IdeaPad Pro 5 14 were the soldered RAM, lacklustre speakers, and loud fans under load. Aside from the non-expandable RAM, other issues are pretty minor, as a good pair of ANC headphones solves them easily.

In short, for just $949.99, the Lenovo IdeaPad Pro 5 16 Gen 10 is an excellent value. The laptop features almost everything that a prosumer notebook should.
