Over 30 hours battery life: Lenovo releases new 15-inch laptop with 165 Hz OLED display

Lenovo released multiple new IdeaPad laptops last month, including one with a 105 W dedicated GPU. Ultimately, all these devices featured either AMD Gorgon Point or Intel Panther Lake processors. With a new month starting, Lenovo has decided to expand its IdeaPad range with its first Snapdragon X2 series option.
For context, Lenovo launched the IdeaPad Slim 5x (14Q8X9) in late 2024 with Snapdragon X X1-26-100 or Snapdragon X Plus X1P-42-100 processors (curr. $775 on Amazon). By contrast, the new IdeaPad Slim 5x (15Q8Y11) comes exclusively with Qualcomm's Snapdragon X2 Plus X2P-42-100, as well as 16 GB or 32 GB of LPDDR5X-9523 RAM.
A 3 nm chipset with a 22 W TDP, the X2P-42-100 contains 6 Oryon Gen 3 Prime cores clocked at 4 GHz. Additionally, Lenovo equips the IdeaPad Slim 5x (15Q8Y11) with M.2 2242 storage, and 54.7 Wh or 70 Wh batteries that Lenovo rates for over 24 hours and 30 hours when playing local 1080p videos at 150 nits on its two 15.3-inch panel options:
- IPS, 1,920 x 1,200 pixels, 120 Hz refresh rate, 400 nits, 100% sRGB, anti-glare, touchscreen
- OLED, 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, 165 Hz refresh rate, 500 nits, 100% DCI-P3, glossy, non-touch
The IdeaPad Slim 5x (15Q8Y11) starts at $849.99 in the US but can be configured up to $1,329 with 32 GB of RAM, a 1 TB SSD, a 70 Wh battery and a 1600p OLED display. Meanwhile, prices start at CAD 1,179.99 in Canada and rise to $1,839 for a fully configured unit. Lenovo has not revealed pricing or availability for other markets yet.
