ETA Prime has put the Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 to the test by running multiple games on it. The gaming tablet delivers solid performance on native titles, and it holds its ground fairly well in terms of emulation.

The Lenovo Legion Tab Gen 5 was recently launched in the global market. While the tablet isn't available to purchase yet, its Chinese version, the Y700 Gen 5, went on sale a while back. ETA Prime has managed to secure the latter, and the YouTuber has tested the gaming and emulation performance of the tablet.

As expected, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 delivers great performance on native Android games. Demanding titles like Destiny Rising and CarX Drift Racing 3 were shown to run without any issues on the gaming tablet. As for emulation, ETA Prime first went over Dolphin EMU performance.

At a 4x resolution scale, the gaming tablet was shown to offer an average of 60 FPS on Auto Modelista, Metroid Prime, and Super Smash Bros Melee. However, in some games, such as Star Wars Rogue Squadron II, there can be some visual glitches.

PS2 emulation isn't a problem either, as ETA Prime notes that the gaming tablet was able to offer 30 FPS or higher on games like God of War II, Silent Hill 2, Metal Gear Solid 3, and Okami. It's worth noting that these PlayStation 2 games were emulated on NetherSX2 at 4X resolution scale and with an OpenGL backend.

Interestingly, Lenovo has integrated a PC game emulator into the Y700 Gen 5 by default. However, as ETA Prime notes, this is an older version of GameHub, and while the software is shown to handle low-end games well, it will struggle with demanding titles. The Witcher 3, for example, crashed during the test.

But the good part is that users can easily install the latest version of GameHub or GameNative on the device, and past tests have already established that the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 can emulate many PC games with ease.

Other than gaming, ETA Prime pointed out a rather interesting feature of the Legion Tab Gen 5. The tablet has a desktop mode that can offer 4K display output at a 144 Hz refresh rate. This means users can essentially turn the device into a surprisingly capable mini PC setup with a dock (Ugreen Revodok Pro 6-in-1 curr. $16.99 on Amazon).
