Xiaomi reveals more performance-focused specs of its new iPad mini rival

Xiaomi has now revealed more about its upcoming iPad mini rival, which is set to launch soon. As one of the latest teasers shows, the compact tablet will come with two USB-C ports, something that's becoming common among gaming tablets from Lenovo Legion.
This dual-port setup makes it easier to connect a wired accessory to the device while a charger is connected to it. Xiaomi also touts that the Redmi K Pad 2 will be the ideal choice for playing FPS games. There's native support for shooting games, with optimizations to reach 165FPS, making the tablet fully utilize the 165Hz display.
On that note, this 8.8-inch LCD display comes with 540Hz multi-finger touch support, promising a responsive gaming experience. Xiaomi touts that the 400Hz gyroscope sampling rate will make it easier to control recoil and aim in shooting games.
Another key highlight from the new teasers is details on the cooling setup. Xiaomi says that the Dimensity 9500-equipped Redmi K Pad 2 comes with a large VC setup with a "centrally located" heat dissipation architecture. This will ensure stable gaming performance even in prolonged sessions.
The Redmi K Pad 2 is also confirmed to feature Sound by Bose tuning. Xiaomi highlights that the compact tablet comes with full-range drivers that promise to offer clear treble, rich detail, and deep bass.
There's still no word about the price yet, but notable leaker Experience More on Weibo reports that the compact tablet will have a launch price of over CNY 3,000, about $440 (first-gen K Pad curr. $396.30 on TradingShenzhen). At this price range, the K Pad 2 will stand as a proper competitor to the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5-powered Legion Tab Gen 5. The launch is set for April 21, 2026, in China, and the tab is expected to go global as the Xiaomi Pad Mini 2.
