TCL Tab A1 Plus with 3:2 display launches for $229
After the TCL Tab A1 Plus was announced at the beginning of March, the mid-range tablet is now available from Amazon for $229, after a launch discount expires, the price will rise to $299. At this price, the tablet offers an interesting price-performance ratio, as TCL uses a 12.2-inch IPS panel with a 3:2 format.
The display achieves a resolution of 2,400 x 1,600 pixels, a frame rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of 550 nits. The sRGB color space can be displayed in full. The display can optionally be operated with the TCL T-Pen 2, which recognizes pressure and can be used with either a soft or hard tip. The tablet is shipped with Android 16, but TCL only guarantees updates up to Android 17.
TCL has given Android a range of multitasking optimizations and the option to use the tablet as an extended display for a laptop. With quad speakers, the tablet is ideal for multimedia applications. The battery has a capacity of 8,000 mAh and is charged via USB-C with up to 20 watts. TCL advertises a standby battery life of up to 60 days. TCL offers an optional keyboard cover for the Tab A1 Plus.
Inside the tablet is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2, a 4 nm ARM chip from 2023, which has two ARM Cortex-A76 performance cores with boost clock rates of up to 2.2 GHz and six Cortex-A55 efficiency cores. TCL also installs 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of flash memory, which can be expanded using a microSD card. A 5 MP selfie camera, an 8 MP main camera, Wi-Fi 5 and Bluetooth 5.0 complete the feature set.
