Oppo releases new compact tablet with 144 Hz AMOLED display

Xiaomi has launched two new compact tablets in China today. In response, Oppo has introduced an alternative of its own. For context, the former released the Redmi Pad 2 SE before swiftly moving onto the Redmi K Pad 2.
Meanwhile, Oppo has delivered the Pad Mini powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 chipset. Already found in the OnePlus 15R (curr. $699 on Amazon), the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 features an Adreno 829 GPU paired with dual Oryon Gen 3 Prime and six Oryon Gen 3 Performance cores. Additionally, this chipset works with LPDDR5X-4800 RAM, UFS 4.1 flash storage and an 8,000 mAh battery that supports 67 W charging via its USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-C port.

Moreover, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 powers an 8.8-inch AMOLED display that outputs at 2,520 x 1,680 pixels in a 3:2 aspect ratio. According to Oppo, this compact display is surrounded by 2.99 mm thick bezels on all sides and offers a 60-144 Hz adaptive refresh rate. The display contains an 8 MP front-facing camera too, which Oppo complements with a 13 MP rear-facing equivalent.
The Oppo Pad Mini starts at CNY 3,699 (~$545) with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of storage in a Space Grey colourway. Alternatively, Space Grey is available with 12 GB of RAM and or 512 GB of storage, as are Monet Purple and Peppermint Green finishes. Oppo sells optional matte display variants too, which result in the Pad Mini peaking at CNY 4,999 (~$735) in Oppo's home market. The company has not revealed whether the Pad Mini will be available globally yet, though.
