Redmi Pad 2 Pro gets a Learning Edition with an AI teacher and homework grader

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro was released in September 2025 with a few key upgrades over its predecessor. In January 2026, Xiaomi announced a Harry Potter Edition that is exclusive to China. It has now followed it with another version that is designed for kids, but is also only available in China.

The new version is called the Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition, and it has the same technical specifications as the regular version (available on Amazon.de for €214.99). This means you get a 12.1-inch 120Hz display with a 2.5K resolution, albeit with matte glass which significantly reduces glare and reduces eye strain.

It is powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 and is available in a single configuration with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. It also has a 12,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast wired charging and 27W reverse wired charging.

What sets it apart from the standard version is the included colorful rugged case and smart stylus. The case has a latch, a slot for the stylus, and its lid can be folded to serve as a kickstand. In addition, Xiaomi has added an AI teacher that uses a 1-on-1 teaching method similar to that of a classroom with real-time questions and answers sessions while teaching.

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition also has an AI-powered homework grading feature that can instantly grade assignments in one-click. It will also provide accurate feedback and identify and address the knowledge gaps of the student. Xiaomi also says the tablet comes with a three-year subscription to its Xiaomi Education Center, which provides access to teaching resources including most textbooks, over 150,000 lessons, and study plans.

The Redmi Pad 2 Pro Learning Edition has a price tag of CNY 2699 (~$396/€337), which is significantly higher than the CNY 1799 (~$264/€225) price of the standard version with the same RAM and storage. There is no info yet on a global release, but considering the Redmi Pad 2 has a kids version that is sold in Europe, we won't rule out the possibility of a similar launch for the Redmi Pad 2 Pro.
