Xiaomi: New compact tablet launching globally with cellular connectivity

Xiaomi launched the Redmi Pad 2 SE yesterday alongside the more powerful Redmi K Pad 2. For the time being, both are exclusive to China. However, past performance indicates that the pair will receive global releases later this year. For instance, the company re-branded the Redmi K Pad as the Pad Mini for other markets.
Recent HyperOS code changes have provided a few insights into Xiaomi's international release plans for the Redmi Pad 2 SE. Reportedly, the Wi-Fi version that debuted yesterday in China will launch elsewhere as the Poco C Pad or Poco Pad C1 and the Redmi Pad 2 9.7 with the model numbers 2603APC14G and 2603ARP14G, respectively. Not only that, but Xiaomi is said to be planning a cellular version called the Redmi Pad 9.7 4G.
In that sense, the Redmi Pad 2 SE will effectively replace the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 globally, which Xiaomi sells in Wi-Fi only and 4G variants (curr. $189.99 on Amazon). Unfortunately, neither of the model numnbers shown above and below suggest when Xiaomi will launch the Poco C Pad, Redmi Pad 2 9.7 or the Redmi Pad 9.7 4G globally.
If the Redmi Pad SE 8.7 is anything to go by, then Xiaomi may wait until July or August before unveiling the Redmi Pad 2 SE internationally. Please see our launch article for more details about the Redmi Pad 2 SE. It is worth noting that Xiaomi has not started selling its cellular variant in China yet, despite listing it on its Chinese website.
