Honor launches new 165Hz OLED tablet with flagship specs and large battery

Honor has launched a new version of the MagicPad 3 Pro. Compared to the last one, which features a 13.3-inch display, the newer model sports a 12.3-inch screen. However, it's not just the screen size that has seen a change. The other specs are different as well.
To start with, the Honor MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3 is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. This is a flagship SoC, but it sits a tier lower than the Elite Gen 5 that powers the 13.3-inch model. While the smaller display has made the new tablet a bit compact, this advantage comes at the cost of a lower battery capacity.
The newer model comes with a 10,100 mAh battery, while the 13.3-inch MagicPad 3 Pro (available on TradingShenzhen) features a 12,450 mAh capacity. On the bright side, the new tablet is thinner, measuring 4.8mm instead of 5.8mm. It has seen notable weight reduction as well, with honor noting that it weighs only 450 grams instead of 595 grams.
Of course, the display has seen a major upgrade. The MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3 comes with a 165Hz OLED panel that has a peak brightness rating of 3,000 nits and 3.9mm bezels. To compare, the 13.3-inch variant features an IPS screen with a peak brightness of 1,100 nits.
There are multiple advanced display technologies for viewing comfort, including 5,280Hz PWM dimming. Honor has also integrated some gaming features, such as super-resolution, which should offer an enhanced gaming experience on this OLED display.
For those looking to be productive, the MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3 has a dedicated PC mode. With support for external display output and a dedicated keyboard folio accessory, it aims to offer PC-grade productivity.
In China, Honor has set a starting launch price tag of CNY 3,999, around $586, which is for the configuration with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. The top-end option for the MagicPad 3 Pro 12.3 has 16GB of RAM and 512GB of storage, and it costs CNY 5,699, about $835.
As for global availability, the MagicPad 4 with almost identical specs is already available in the international market. The only notable difference is the peak brightness rating, which is at 2,400 nits.
