Xiaomi has introduced the Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 4G in India, featuring high-refresh-rate 120Hz displays and the Unisoc T7250 chipset. The Pro model distinguishes itself with a large 6,300mAh battery and a market-leading software promise of 4 years of OS updates and 6 years of security patches running on HyperOS 3. With prices starting at INR 10,499 (~$112), the A7 Pro 4G offers premium longevity for the entry-level market.

After launching the Redmi A7 5G, Xiaomi has expanded its entry-level portfolio in India with the official debut of the Redmi A7 and Redmi A7 Pro 4G.

Both smartphones feature large 120Hz IPS LCD panels - the standard Redmi A7 gets a 6.88-inches display and the Redmi A7 Pro 4G boasts a 6.9-inch one on the Pro (800 nits of peak brightness).

Under the hood, both models are powered by the Unisoc T7250 chipset, paired with LPDDR4X RAM - 3GB for the A7, 4GB for the Pro and 64GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Users can expand this storage via a dedicated microSD slot up to 2TB.

The Redmi A7 houses a 5,200mAh battery while the Redmi A7 Pro 4G variant boasts a larger 6,300mAh cell. Both support 15W wired and 7.5W reverse wired charging. Xiaomi included an IP52 rating, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

You get a single 13MP primary rear camera and an 8MP front-facing sensor on both devices - nothing special but expected - especially at this price level.

The most significant distinction lies in the software. The Redmi A7 runs Android 15-based HyperOS 2 and is promised 2 years of OS upgrades with 4 years of security patches. In contrast, the Redmi A7 Pro ships with the newer Android 16-based HyperOS 3 and offers an impressive support window of 4 years of Android OS updates and 6 years of security updates.

The Redmi A7 4G is priced at INR 10,499 (~$112) in Black and Sky Blue, while the Redmi A7 Pro 4G costs INR 11,499 (~$123) in Black and Sunset Orange. Sales begin April 24.
