Xiaomi's new Panther Lake laptop line rivals MacBook Pro with up to 165Hz display

Xiaomi has been teasing a Panther Lake-powered Redmi-branded laptop lineup for a while now, and the company has now launched it in China. This lineup stands as an alternative to the MacBook Pro, especially the top-end options of the two laptops.
The Redmi Book Pro 2026 series has two models, with one featuring a 14-inch IPS screen. This display has a 120Hz refresh rate, a 100% sRGB color coverage, 500 nits of brightness rating, and a resolution of 2880x1800 pixels. The second model has a 16-inch display, and it's an upgraded panel.
More specifically, the 16-inch laptop features a 165Hz IPS display with a resolution of 3200x2000 pixels, but retains the other specs of the 14-inch model. Another key difference between the two is the battery. The larger Redmi Book Pro 2026 features a 99Wh battery, which promises up to 30.4 hours of local video playback.
As for the smaller 14-inch model, it has a 92Wh battery, and this lower capacity also makes it light. It weighs around 3.29lbs, while the Redmi Book Pro 16 2026 weighs 4.15lbs. Both are said to have a thin body measuring 15.9mm with the display closed.
The other specs are pretty much the same between the two, including the relatively decent selection of ports. Specifically, the port configuration is as follows:
- 1x Thunderbolt 4
- 1x full-function USB Type-C
- 2x USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A
- 1x HDMI 2.1
- 1x 3.5mm audio
There are three main configurations available for the two, and the base option features the Intel Core Ultra 5 325, a mid-range processor from the line. It is paired with 24GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The second config bumps it up to the Core Ultra 5 338H, a more capable option with the Arc B370 iGPU. Xiaomi paired this option with 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
At the top of the line is the configuration with the Core Ultra X7 358H, which has Intel's most capable iGPU, the Arc B390. This config also features 32GB of RAM and 1TB of storage.
Price and availability
The 14-inch model starts at CNY 7,499, about $1,099, while the top-end option for it goes for CNY 9,499, around $1,393. As for the Redmi Book Pro 16 2026, it starts at CNY 7,699, approximately $1,129, while the maxed-out version costs CNY 9,699, about $1,422. It's unclear whether Xiaomi will bring this laptop lineup to the global market, but it did launch some Redmi-branded laptops globally.
Another thing that's worth noting is that the Xiaomi Book Pro 2026 lineup that was recently released could become available globally soon. It has similar specs, and for those interested, it's already available to import from some platforms (Intel X7 358H variant curr. $1,782.88 on TradingShenzhen).
