Acer releases new 16-inch laptop with AMD Gorgon Point and 120 Hz display

Acer is now selling the Swift Go with AMD Gorgon Point APUs to replace older models (curr. $834 on Amazon). Revealed in January, these SFG16-A71 variants depart from their Intel Panther Lake-backed counterparts in various areas. For instance, Acer equips the former with a 65 Wh battery, a 7% downgrade on Intel variants.
The Swift Go 16 SFG16-A71 also features the choice between Ryzen AI 7 445 and Ryzen AI 9 465 APUs within its 355.5 x 251.2 x 15.9 mm housing. Weighing in at 1.6 kg, these AMD variants contain only a 1200p IPS panel at launch. According to Acer, this display also delivers 350 nits peak brightness and 100% sRGB colour space coverage with a 120 Hz refresh rate, too.
Currently, the Swift Go 16 SFG16-A71 starts at $1,149 with the Ryzen AI 7 445. Please note that this variant offers 16 GB of soldered LPDDR5X RAM and 1 TB of PCIe Gen 4 storage. Only Best Buy is selling this variant at the time of writing, as well.
Alternatively, both Acer and Best Buy are stocking a more powerful Ryzen AI 9 465 variant that leads the Ryzen AI 7 445 by around 20% in our benchmarks. Priced at $1,599 on Acer's website and $1,499 on Best Buy, this variant jumps to 32 GB of RAM while retaining 1 TB of storage and the same IPS display as its Ryzen AI 7 445 counterpart. Please see Acer's website for more details.
