Intel confirms Apple MacBook Pro exclusivity for its 28 W Ice Lake processors; kills off the Core i7-1068G7 in the process

The faint glimmer of Core i7-1068G7 laptops arriving this quarter is seemingly no more. Removed from Intel's ARK database, the Core i7-1068G7 has been replaced by the Core i7-1068NG7, the 28 W processor found in the new MacBook Pro 13. The Core i5-1038NG7 has been added too, Intel's other 28 W Ice Lake processor.

Dell XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700 are launching this week; possible Alienware, Latitude and Precision refreshes on track too

Rumour has it that Dell will be releasing the XPS 15 9500 and XPS 17 9700 later this week. Leaked in their entirety last month, the new XPS 15 and the first XPS 17 in years will feature Comet Lake-H processors and new NVIDIA GeForce GPUs. Huge volumes of RAM and storage have also been suggested, although there are multiple differences between the two new XPS machines. Alienware, Latitude and Precision refreshes seem imminent, too.

Prolific leaker Jon Prosser confirms that there will be four variants in the iPhone 12 series this year. The iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Max will come with a 60Hz OLED display, 4GB of RAM, and a dual-camera setup. Prices start at $649 and $749, respectively. The iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max will come with a 120Hz display, triple-camera+LiDAR setup, 6GB of RAM, and will retail at $999 and $1099, respectively.

A new version of the Xiaomi Redmi K30 is here, complete with a new chipset and a fresh colour option. Priced at CNY 1,999 (~US$283), the Redmi K30 Extreme Edition features all the good aspects of the Redmi K30 5G but with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 768G SoC. Essentially an overclocked Redmi K30 5G, the Redmi K30 Extreme Edition will launch on May 14 and will be available in an exclusive "Mint Ice Blue" finish. The device will not launch on MIUI 12, though.

AMD's Robert Hallock has confirmed that the upcoming AMD Ryzen 4000 Zen 3 processors will be compatible with Socket AM4 as long as the motherboard features an X570 or B550 chipset. Zen 3 will not support older chipsets owing to lower space on the EEPROM of these motherboards. Future prospects of Socket AM4 depend on the industry's I/O innovation.
