The Z1, an upcoming phone from Vivo's high-value sub-brand iQOO, is currently tipped as the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ version of the Snapdragon 865-powered Neo3 from the same. Its launch date has now been officially revealed, alongside new teasers that show how this phone will look.

Vivo had stated that it would release a phone with the MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ SoC even as this overhauled chipset was being launched. Now, the OEM has revealed that this device is to be called the Z1, and will have a display with an ultra-high-end 144Hz refresh rate to boot.

This detail has been accompanied by additional relevant claims from the eminent Weibo tipster DigitalChatStation. According to this account, the Z1 will have the same specs as the pre-existing Neo3 - except for the processor, obviously. Therefore, it could have between 6 and 12GB of RAM, as well as 128 to 256GB of internal storage, which could be LPDDR5 and UFS 3.1 respectively.

The latest Z1 teasers show a display that has a single punch-hole in its upper right corner. It would indeed have this in common with the Neo3 (as well as with the Meizu 17 Pro). Therefore, it too may have a 6.5-inch FHD+ LCD display.

However, the new phone is also now said to start even cheaper than the Neo3, which asks 2698 yuan (~US$380) for a base model. These details will be confirmed or denied at the phone's launch, which is now set for May 19, 2020.
