The iQOO Z1 is now up for pre-order in its initial market, China. Unlike this brand's last high-end mobile device, it runs on the refreshed MediaTek Dimensity 1000+ processor. However, the rest of its specs remain very similar to this existing Neo3 - except the Z1 is indeed cheaper.

Today, (19 May, 2020) iQOO has finally confirmed that its latest launch, the Z1, is the Dimensity 1000+ version of the Snapdragon 865-powered Neo3. Therefore, the 2 phones share a chassis, even down to the rectangular rear camera hump that houses 48+8+2MP shooters. This, fortunately for the Z1, means it also gets a 6.57-inch FHD+ display with a 144 hertz (Hz) refresh rate.

This panel also features a 16MP punch-hole selfie camera. The Neo3 and Z1 also have the same 4500mAh battery with 44 watt (W) charging and run iQOO UI based on Android 10. They also have the same RAM/internal storage configurations - however, that is where compromises have been made in terms of the Z1.

This new phone has UFS 2.1 flash storage, whereas the Neo3 has the higher-grade 3.1 standard. Otherwise, the former has the rest of the latter's attributes, dual stereo speakers included. Nonetheless, iQOO fans may be drawn to the Z1's more attractive price-tags.

It starts at 2198 yuan (~US$309) for a 6GB/128GB base model, whereas the Neo3 costs 2498 yuan (~$352) for the same. This rises through 2498 and 2798 yuan (~$394) for 8GB/128GB and 8GB/256GB SKUs of the Z1 respectively, where, again, the Neo3's counterparts cost 2998 and 3398 yuan (~$422-478) respectively.

Then again, the Snapdragon option also has a 12GB/128GB SKU for 3298 yuan (~$464). On that note, iQOO has also prepared a version of the Z1 that swaps its normal Space Blue or Galaxy Silver colorways for one done up in yellow with the One Piece logo set in the brand's own. However, its maker has yet to mention further details, pricing or availability on this Special Edition.
