Reviews for the Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2019-20QE000VGE

90.1% Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 2019 WQHD Live Review: Still the reference among business laptops? | Notebookcheck
The ThinkPad X1 Carbon is Lenovo's flagship business laptop and primarily convinced us with its portable chassis in recent years, without sacrificing ports or performance. The 7th generation is even more compact and gets new display options. Is the 2019 ThinkPad X1 Carbon with the WQHD screen as successful as the previous models or is the 2018 model the better choice? Update: Case, input devices, CPU Undervolting
Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen review: The 4K display is a splendid liability
Source: Good Gear Guide English Archive.org version
But no feature matters if you don’t have enough power to run it. The gorgeous 4K display may make up for years of lifeless, matte ThinkPad screens, and I absolutely love using it while plugged in. But the toll it takes on battery life should make you reconsider 1080p, especially if you're frequently on the road. While we’re still awarding the 7th Gen an Editor’s Choice, we’re also knocking it down to four stars, from the five we gave to the prior generation.

I enjoyed using the ThinkPad X1 Carbon 7th Gen. Performance is solid. Typing is as comfortable as ever. Nailing the audio was an unexpected joy. I'm unabashedly enthusiastic about the company’s Vantage software, and the bonus Glance utility.

I really like Lenovo’s new Thinkpad Carbon X1 and I think it has it where it counts: the construction, the inputs and the multitude of screens and hardware configurations, among others. Compared to the previous models, this 2019 X1 Carbon 7th gen improves in the screens, audio and noise-levels, but settles for shorter battery life and some performance limitations in demanding loads. We'll talk about all these aspects in the review below.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Gen7 (2019) is an excellent ultralight laptop that is configurable to compete at any performance or price point in the high-end 13” to 14” laptop market.

The seventh-gen Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a best-in-class ultraportable that combines premium design appeal with business-grade privacy and security features. The extra durability is certainly nice to have on something so thin and light. You'll just have to pay attention to what configuration you go with to get the best battery life possible. The same goes for its privacy features -- PrivacyGuard and PrivacyAlert -- which are optional.

Whether you're a business user or an everyday consumer, the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is an excellent choice. The latest version of Lenovo's flagship ultraportable has a superlightweight chassis that's as durable as it is gorgeous. Both 4K and 1080p display options are bright and vivid, and the X1 Carbon is powerful enough to run anything you throw at it as long as it doesn't require discrete graphics. Battery life is also good, as long as you choose the 1080p display over the short-lived 4K option. Despite all of that deserving praise, you probably shouldn't buy this ThinkPad X1 Carbon. At least, not today. Lenovo has already announced that it will bring 10th Gen Intel CPUs to its latest flagship ThinkPads. The new chips are expected to bring a nice performance boost on top of Wi-Fi 6 and integrated Thunderbolt 3 support. If you can't wait until then, don't sweat it -- the ThinkPad X1 Carbon is a fantastic business notebook and one of the best laptops, period.

ThinkPad X1 Carbon (2019) Review: Lenovo 7th Gen Flagship Impresses
Source: Hot Hardware English Archive.org version
Compared to last year's model, the new generation of ThinkPad X1 Carbon is more evolution than revolution, but last year's system was pretty great. Of course, most folks aren't replacing their $2,000 laptop annually, either. However, if you've been clinging to an older business-class laptop and didn't just jump straight to the conclusion of this review, you probably already know what we're going to say. If you want a no-compromise ultrabook, you can confidently pick up a 2019 Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon and not look back.

Hands-on article by Jagadisa Rajarathnam

Intel UHD Graphics 620: Integrated GPU (GT2, 24 EUs) found on some Kaby-Lake-Refresh CPU models (15 W ULV series). Technically identical to the previous Kaby-Lake GPU called HD Graphics 620.

Modern games should be playable with these graphics cards at low settings and resolutions. Casual gamers may be happy with these cards.

» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Graphics Cards and the corresponding Benchmark List.

Intel Core i7: The Intel Core i7 for laptops is based on the LG1156 Core i5/i7 CPU for desktops. The base clock speed of the CPUs is relatively low, but because of a huge Turbo mode, the cores can dynamically overclock to up to 3.2 GHz (920XM). Therefore, the CPU can be as fast as high clocked dual-core CPUs (using single threaded applications) but still offer the advantage of 4 cores. Because of the large TDP of 45 W / 55 W, the CPU is only intended for large laptops.

i7-8665U: Whiskey Lake based low power quad-core processor (technically identical to Kaby Lake but produced in a further improved 14nm++ process). The four cores are clocked between 1.9 and 4.8 GHz (Turbo Boost) and support HyperThreading.» Further information can be found in our Comparison of Mobile Processsors.

14.00":

There are hardly any tablets in this display size range anymore. For subnotebooks, on the other hand, it is the standard format.

The advantage of subnotebooks is that the entire laptop can be small and therefore easily portable. The smaller display also has the advantage of requiring less power, which further improves battery life and thus mobility. The disadvantage is that reading texts is more strenuous on the eyes. High resolutions are more likely to be found in standard laptops.

Lenovo: Lenovo ("Le" from English legend, novo (Latin) for new) was founded in 1984 as a Chinese computer trading company. As of 2004, the company was the largest laptop manufacturer in China and, after acquiring IBM's PC division in 2005, the fourth largest in the world. In addition to desktops and notebooks, the company manufactures monitors, projectors, servers, etc, and specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing consumer electronics, personal computers, software, enterprise solutions and related services.

In 2016, the company ranked first in the world in computer sales. It still held it in 2023 with about 23% global market share. Important product lines are Thinkpad, Legion and Ideapad.

In 2011, it acquired a majority stake in Medion AG, a European computer hardware manufacturer. In 2014, Motorola Mobility was purchased, which gave Lenovo a boost in the smartphone market.

86.73%: This is an above-average rating. Nevertheless, it should not be forgotten that about one fifth of all tested models receive a better rating.
