A Poco F2 Pro render has appeared in the wild, just a day before its release. It looks a lot like the Redmi K30 Pro, as foretold by earlier rumors centered around the device. The phone is expected to come in both 5G and 4G-only variants, depending on the market.

The critically acclaimed Poco F1 is all set to receive a successor in the form of the Poco F2 Pro. It will be unveiled on May 12th via an online event, much to the delight of fans and enthusiasts alike. An older Poco offering -the Poco X2- was a Redmi K30 with a fresh coat of paint, and some rumors suggested that the Poco F2 will follow its footsteps as a rebranded Redmi K30 Pro.

New press renders of the phone have now popped up online, further legitimizing the speculation. The image comes via the renowned leaker Ishan Agarwal on Twitter. Prima facie, the phone looks a lot like the Redmi K30 Pro with its all-screen display complete with a slot for the motorized pop-up camera. Ishan further adds that the Poco F2 Pro will be available in five color variants, namely Black, Grey, Blue, Purple & White.

Xiaomi India's head stated earlier that the Poco F2 Pro would be a different device, so it'll be interesting to see what changes Poco has in mind for us. We could be looking at a higher refresh rate screen along with tweaked camera setup. Since the phone is expected to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC, 5G support is a given. However, we can also expect to see 4G-only versions of the Poco F2 Pro sold in markets that do not offer 5G connectivity.

The Poco F2 Pro's fate, however, lies in its price, and not the hardware. Xiaomi has been increasingly drifting away from its 'affordable' roots, as demonstrated by the Mi 10 series. The Redmi K20 Pro had relatively fewer competitors in markets. The Redmi K30 Pro/Poco F2 Pro, on the other hand, has to compete with affordable flagship offerings from iQOO, Realme, Nubia, and Black Shark. Nonetheless, we won't have to wait long to find out about Poco's newest smartphone.
