The Acer Swift 3 is a solid journeyman. It’s reliable, but it’s never going to stand out in a crowd. Thanks to its Core i5 processor and integrated GPU, the laptop is a capable workhorse and can handle most productivity and multimedia tasks. And given its wide variety of ports, you can cobble together a passable work machine. And the $699 price tag is immensely attractive.

The Swift 3 FS314-57 is one of the most competitively priced Intel Ice Lake ultraportables of the moment, as well as one of the most compact and lightweight 14-inch options in the $600-$1000 budget. Furthermore, Acer implemented the hardware very well, allowing solid performance in both daily use and in demanding loads, combined with excellent thermals and noise levels. At the same time, though, this 2020 update downgrades the typing experience, battery life and screen quality of the previous Swift 3 SF314-55, which reflects in our overall rating.
