Samsung has detailed more camera refinements for the Galaxy S23 series, which will be headed to all models. Apparently, the option of choosing 2x portrait zoom will soon return, as will fixes for issues viewing HDR shots in the stock gallery app.

Motorola will soon release the Razr 40 Ultra, its likely alternative to this year's Galaxy Z Flip5. However, leaked promotional images have confirmed Motorola's intention to offer a cheaper foldable by way of the Razr 40. Mimicking the design of the Galaxy Z Flip4, the Razr 40 will be available in at least three colours with textured finishes.

Realme has unleashed the 11 Pro Plus to push 200MP main cameras even further into the mainstream today (May 10, 2023). It has been joined by vanilla 11 and 11 Pro siblings with the same new camera-ring design, Realme UI 4 based on Android 13 and 5,000mAh batteries. All three new devices ship with MediaTek's latest refreshed SoCs and FHD+ AMOLED displays

The new RedMagic 8 Pro is an Android flagship with the claim to fame of being the only gaming smartphone with an under-display camera (UDC). Then again, its 2022 counterpart the 7 Pro can say the same - and also has an attractive discount as part of the brand's upcoming fifth anniversary celebration. RedMagic is also doing a giveaway on some of its PC accessories as well as its mobile devices to mart the event.

FREEDARE has announced that it will bring its new option in electrified mobility to Indiegogo later in May 2023. The start-up describes it as "the world's first smart fat tire e-bike", which seems to mean the multi-terrain IP5X two-wheeler comes with battery management, theft detection and route-planning via its own smartphone app. Its range, comfort and early-bird prices are also now being hyped ahead of its debut.

The OPPO Reno10 Pro Plus (or Pro+) is an upcoming Android smartphone series flagship that will be sold in two different colors, according to a famous leaker. Their latest post also purports to show the device's all-new camera hump, and in the wild this time. It seems to contain a high-end lens type, hinting at a new premium spec for the otherwise mid-range handset.

The Pixel 7a has yet to be announced by Google - however, it already somehow has listings on the online US marketplace Swappa. The popular source of second-hand smartphones has a page for the new mid-range handset, which, furthermore, has multiple listings for allegedly in-hand units. European and UK pricing for the Pixel 7a has leaked online, less than a week away from the device's anticipated launch during Google I/O 2023. As expected, the Pixel 7a will be more expensive than the Pixel 6a, which is rumoured to be sticking around for another year. With Google now discounting the Pixel 7 in some markets, it seems that there will be little separating from the nominally less Pixel 7a.

Motorola has presented the Edge 40, its latest upper mid-range smartphone. Arriving as a cheaper option to the Edge 40 Pro, the Edge 40 has a 144 Hz display, a Dimensity 8020 chipset and supports 68 W fast charging, among other features.

POCO has outlined which smartphones will receive MIUI 14 globally this quarter. According to the company, four representatives each of the POCO F and POCO X series will move from MIUI 13 to MIUI 14, with three from the POCO M series also due for MIUI 14.

HMD Global has introduced the Nokia XR21, a rugged smartphone that it claims is as robust as halcyon Nokia phones. The Nokia XR21 is billed as also delivering up to 2 days of battery life, with a few modern features thrown in too.

Xiaomi has announced the Redmi Note 12R Pro, its latest mid-range smartphone sold under the Redmi Note 12 series. The Redmi Note 12R Pro features a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, 12 GB of RAM, 256 GB of storage and an AMOLED display that peaks at 1,200 nits with a 120 Hz refresh rate. The Redmi Note 12R Pro is also relatively affordable, although it remains a Chinese exclusive for now.

Nothing has confirmed that it is readying the release of its next smartphone, the Phone (2). Billed as 'premium', the Nothing Phone (2) will arrive this summer with a Snapdragon 8 series chipset. Seemingly, the Phone (2) will launch with Android 13 and the Snapdragon 8 Plus Gen 1, rather than newer alternatives.

Full specifications for the Razr 40 Ultra have leaked online. While the device is Motorola's next-generation foldable, it will contain several hardware downgrades from last year's Razr.

Google has delivered the May 2023 round of updates for its Pixel portfolio. Available for the Pixel 4a (5G) onwards and the Pixel Watch, this month's updates introduce various security improvements and should refine touchscreen response on the Pixel 7 Pro.
