The long-rumored last member of the Galaxy S23 Android smartphone family was notable by its absence during Samsung's major Galaxy Unpacked event of today (July 26, 2023). However, it is still definitely on the way, according to a new tip. It will, apparently, arrive with wireless charging - and with other, more premium S23 party tricks in this area besides.
Galaxy Unpacked Seoul 2023 has now concluded with no mention of the supposedly upcoming S23 FE - then again, there was a strong Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy theme running through the show, into which the final flagship series member may not have fit. Nevertheless, there is now more evidence that the latest Fan Edition might get a different shot at the limelight soon enough.
It has just been registered by name (well, as the "Samsung Electronics Galaxy S23FE", or SM-S711U) with the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), which, thus, confers wireless charging on the upcoming device. Interestingly, it is now certified as a "Power Class 0 Receiver" of up to 4.4 watts (W), just like its higher-end siblings on the same database, the SM-S918U1 (or equally region-specific S23 Ultra) included.
In other words, the S23 FE just might have reverse wireless charging rounded up to 4.5W, just like the S23 and S23+, as well as Qi wireless charging and up to 25W wired charging (not to mention display bezels that already exhibit a noticeable chin). It will now be very interesting to see which other potential top-end perks the upcoming 'people's flagship' gets to retain on its launch.

I became a professional writer and editor shortly after graduation. My degrees are in biomedical sciences; however, they led to some experience in the biotech area, which convinced me of its potential to revolutionize our health, environment and lives in general. This developed into an all-consuming interest in more aspects of tech over time: I can never write enough on the latest electronics, gadgets and innovations. My other interests include imaging, astronomy, and streaming all the things. Oh, and coffee.
